A protest against the election of Donald Trump as president drew hundreds of protesters in downtown St. Louis.

Greitens, a Republican, defeated Democrat Chris Koster with 51 percent of the vote on Tuesday to 45 percent for the state's attorney general. “Tonight, we did more than win an election; we restored power to the people and we took our state back!” Greitens told supporters at a hotel in Chesterfield, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Greitens, 42, grew up in the Maryland Heights suburb of St. Louis and attended the town’s Reform synagogue. He attended Duke University, where he become a Rhodes scholar.

By February, State Auditor Nicole Galloway will soon be the highest-ranked Democratic statewide elected official in Missouri, not including U.S. Senate seats. That will be because she will be the only Democratic statewide elected official in Missouri. Republicans pulled off a clean sweep of their statewide candidates, no doubt assisted by a massive Donald Trump surge as he won by just over 19 points in the Show Me State on his way to the presidency.

I just received a really odd robocall. I didn't answer it, but heard the whole thing on the answering machine. It was Obama shilling for Chris Koster, talking about how he would raise the minimum wage, build on Obamacare, and protect Obama's legacy from the Republicans. A St. Louis County police officer answering a call was fatally shot "almost immediately" after he got out of his car Thursday morning, police said. A second officer then shot the suspect, who also was badly injured. The shooting happened about 5:15 a.m. in Green Park, said Benjamin Granda, a spokesman for the St. Louis County Police. Green Park is a small city in south St. Louis County northwest of the South County Center mall.
