By Cheryl Chumley First Lady Michelle Obama suggested at an opening of the new $420 million Whitney Museum in New York City that minorities rarely feel welcome at such venues. “You see, there are so many kids in this country who look at places like museums and concert halls and other cultural centers and they think to themselves, ‘well, that’s not a place for me, for someone who looks like me, for someone who comes from my neighborhood.’” She then said she could “guarantee you that right now, there are kids living less than a mile from here who...

Are art museums welcoming enough to minorities? While it’s probably a question that never occurred to you since, if you are so inclined, you simply pay the admission and enter, it it apparently a pressing issue to some people. One of those people to whom this though has occurred is first lady Michelle Obama. At the opening of the new $420 million Whitney Museum in New York City, the first lady spoke of a “feeling of not belonging” in museums when she was a growing up on the south side of Chicago.

All children, regardless of their circumstances, deserve safe, nourishing and delicious school meals. One of the best ways to help district nutrition programs as they transition to healthier food is to buy school lunch for your children. When I talk with parents about school food, many are so disappointed in the options their schools provide that they’ve simply opted out. They pack their children’s lunches every day, giving up on their school’s nutrition program as a lost cause. I understand and support parents who insist their children eat healthfully and responsibly. My dream is a nation in which all food –...

First lady Michelle Obama used a speech Monday that was supposed to be celebrating the opening of a new museum to instead dig deeper the racial divide that’s been growing ever wider during her husband’s presidency. “Museums and concert halls,” she said, just don’t welcome non-white visitors – especially children – the way they welcome whites. Speaking at the new Whitney museum in New York City’s meat packing district last week, Obama said she grew up thinking that museums were not places “for someone who looks like me.”

Speaking at the opening of the Whitney Museum in New York City, Michelle Obama implied that museums intimidate people who "look like" her, as well as "young people." The Whitney Museum is a museum of American art. Ms. Obama began her speech by saying how beautiful the new museum was and by thanking Mayor de Blasio. "I also want to recognize Mayor de Blasio for his leadership and his passion, and for joining us here today -- absolutely," she said. The First Lady then mentioned one of the themes that one of the museum's exhibits has, which is, “How can...

The White House said Friday that President Obama’s visit to Nike headquarters in Oregon next week is unrelated to the company’s $50 million contribution to first lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign for kids. Asked whether Nike’s generosity was behind the White House’s selection of the company for a presidential visit, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said “not that I’m aware of.” He said the president will visit the company to talk about free trade.

ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. – Meat dating to the year of President Obama’s first inauguration was served to students in some Hawkins County, Tennessee schools last week. Hawkins County Commissioner Michael Herrell was alerted after a cafeteria worker sent him a photo of the pork roast they used for school meals was from 2009. The 6-year-old meat had been frozen and then was thawed for meal preparation, according to WCYB. Herrell said the photo was taken at Joseph Rogers Primary School where the staff decided not to serve the meat. However, it was served at other schools.

Too soon, too soon, of course. After observing close-up the kind of headwinds her husband has met in Washington, D.C., and beyond, there is absolutely no indication that first lady Michelle Obama is looking to place her own name on any ballot. She has, in fact, said the opposite, although in his just-released book, Michelle Obama: A Life, veteran journalist Peter Slevin reports that she has always been a full partner in her husband’s political career. But it is significant that former first lady, U.S. Sen. and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has hired Michelle Obama’s former communications chief as...

Full title: That's pretty fishy!: School blames ‘poor lighting’ for paltry lunch that meets Michelle Obama's nutritional guidelines That's not a light lunch, it's just bad lighting, say administrators at a Virginia School standing up for their FLOTUS approved school meals. A concerned mother took a photo of her child's lunch consisting of a dull looking fish fillet, a whole wheat bun, and corn and then posted it to social media this week. Virginia’s Portsmouth Public Schools say that their lunches are in compliance with Michelle Obama's federal lunch rules. Scroll down for video

President Obama addressed a Working Mothers Town Hall during a brief trip to Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday. The issue of pay inequality was brought up and the president addressed the matter of equal pay in the White House, but not in the way you would think. "Let me tell you, now, Michelle would point out First Ladies get paid nothing," the president said to laughter. "So there’s clearly not equal pay in the White House when it comes to her and me." "But before we were in the White House, I wanted to make sure Michelle got paid as...

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has colluded with the family of the late poet Maya Angelou to steal a quote from a white eighty nine year old children’s book writer named Joan Walsh Anglund to make the new Angelou stamp look good. The whole episode is a perfect example of how liberals are different from other people. According to reports, there was an excited gathering of “luminaries” at the stamp’s unveiling which included Michelle Obama who is the political world’s Kim Kardashian – famous for being famous without any actual accomplishments of her own. That the stolen quote placed...

On Wednesday, First Lady Michelle Obama addressed a gathering at the White House that focused on the topic of creating opportunity for Native American youth. The White House posted her prepared remarks online. The full speech, as posted by the White House, can be read by clicking here. Here is an excerpt from the First Lady's remarks: You see, we need to be very clear about where the challenges in this community first started. Folks in Indian Country didn’t just wake up one day with addiction problems. Poverty and violence didn’t just randomly happen to this community. These issues are...

Let's be clear: on today's With All Due Respect, Mark Halperin and John Heilemann were very complimentary about Kelley Paul's performance today in introducing her husband Rand at his presidential announcement speech. They described her as a big asset and anticipate seeing a lot more of her on the campaign trail. That said, the duo said something that boggled my mind, claiming that as good as she was, Kelley was "not at Michelle Obama's level." Back in April, 2008, a full year later in the campaign cycle, this NewsBuster wrote about Michelle's shockingly angry performance on the stump [view the...

The day the government tries to tell me what to eat, i.e. no red meat, fried foods or sugar, is the day I show them how to conduct a successful colonoscopy with a watermelon. We have 93 million citizens out of the workforce, 18 trillion in debt, unvetted illegal immigrants are streaming across the border, and Washington is worried about what’s on my plate? Unbeknownst to Obama & Co. - who can’t tell the truth to save their life and who refuse to take responsibility for a smorgasbord of failures and abuse - the Constitution is not a napkin and...

Apparently, parents should visit the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) website to find out how to teach their children good eating habits. The agency in charge of the country’s agricultural sector is now in the nanny business, thanks to First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative to fight childhood obesity, which links to choosemyplate.gov on its website. In the kids’ section of My Plate, advice is dished out on how parents can help pre-schoolers “develop healthy eating habits,” including a warning about praising an empty plate.“Avoid praising a clean plate,” the website states. “Your child should stop eating when he or she...

Leave it to Michelle Obama to transform the time-honored White House Easter Egg Roll into what is essentially a grueling, daylong bootcamp. If you think an Easter egg hunt and chocolate bunnies are the themes of the 137th White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday, you are way off. Try core-strength training and pledges of nutritional and physical improvement to the first lady. Drop and give Michelle 20. The Whitehouse website states, “the day’s activities will encourage children to lead healthy, active lives in support of the first lady’s ‘Let’s Move’ initiative.” With “sports and fitness zones” promised, it sounds...
