A shootout Saturday in Juniata County has left one Pennsylvania State State Police trooper and a suspect dead. Another state police trooper was also badly injured in an earlier related shooting. The shootout which left the trooper and suspect dead took place in Walker Township just before 3 p.m. A second state trooper was shot in an earlier related incident in Mifflintown. Police Officer Dan Rocha was shot and killed while investigating a suspicious person at 1010 N Broadway Avenue at about 2:15 pm. Citizens had called police to report the man's suspicious behavior. Officer Rocha made contact with the man and a struggle ensued during which the man shot him in the head, killing him. The subject then ran over Officer Rocha's body as he fled in a car. The mother of two brothers charged in the murder of a Chicago police officer has been arrested after scuffling with police and guards, kicking one of them, while trying to visit her son in the hospital, police said. Evalena Flores was arrested at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn just before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday after she ran down a hall and confronted Chicago police officers and security guards posted outside the room of Emonte Morgan, Oak Lawn police said. Trooper Nicholas Hopkins was shot and killed while serving a search warrant at a home at 1426 North 42nd Street and Caseyville Avenue in East St. Louis, Illinois. He and other members of the Emergency Response Team were making entry into the home at 5:30 am when he was shot by an occupant during an exchange of gunfire. Trooper Hopkins had served with the Illinois State Police for 10 years. He is survived by his wife and children.

Officer Andre Moye was shot and killed after conducting a traffics top near the junction of I-215 and Eastridge Avenue in Riverside. As Officer Moye completed paperwork to impound the vehicle the driver retrieved a rifle from it and opened fire. Despite being mortally wounded, Officer Moye was able to radio for assistance. Detective Deidre Mengedoht was killed when her patrol car was struck by an impaired driver while conducting a traffic stop on I-64, between 4th Street and 6th Street, in downtown Louisville just after 2:00 pm. Her vehicle was stopped in the right lane with its emergency equipment activated when it was struck from behind by a Metropolitan Sewer District tractor-trailer. Officials in York have identified two firefighters killed in a structure collapse earlier today. Ivan Flanscha, 50, and Zachary Anthony, 29, and died from injuries sustained when the building collapsed just before 4 p.m. on the 100 block of North Broad Street in York. BELVIDERE, Tenn. -- Friends and co-workers of Deputy Mike Claiborne said he was out house hunting when he was shot and killed Saturday night. A female Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy was shot and fatally wounded in the driveway of a home in Long Beach this morning. Neighbors in the middle-class Wrigley district reported hearing four gunshots around 6 a.m., apparently as the deputy was approaching her car to go to work. Long Beach police and Sheriff's detectives were on the scene in the 2900 block of Eucalyptus Avenue investigating.
