Watching Fox News. Just had a live interview with Rick Leventhal in Wilmington. Has video of looters (the usual perp types) at a Family Dollar and someone yelled at him "where are the police? Our taxes pay for them?." Leventhal contacted the police and they responded back that it was a "management decision" not to respond (their response was shown on the story)

Identity politics kills. If there is any lesson to be drawn from the killing of Justine Ruszczyk Damond, that is it. The city of Minneapolis was so eager to have a Somali Muslim police officer on the force that it hired a man who had been found incompetent to hold the job. Further, it did not fire him even when he proved that he was indeed unfit to be a cop. Fox News has reported that “the former Minneapolis police officer charged in the shooting death of Justine Ruszczyk Damond once put a gun to a driver’s head during a...

Yesterday I wrote a piece that’s gone viral — an extended denunciation of a terrible police shooting in Texas. A white officer went to black man’s apartment, apparently thinking it was her own. When she saw the man in the darkness, she claimed she thought he was a burglar. She shot him and killed him. It’s a horrifying story, and it’s not the only terrible police shooting to shock the American conscience. Whenever I write about police shootings, I get a similar critique. New readers will Google me and find that I’ve been strongly critical of Black Lives Matter. Yet...

The National Fraternal Order of Police won’t boycott Nike, but they made it crystal clear that they won’t stand for the company’s controversial Colin Kaepernick ad. In a press release deliberately titled, “Believe In Something Even If It Means Sacrificing Everything,” Chuck Canterbury, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, issued a powerful dismissal of the Nike ad – and completely humiliated Kaepernick in the process. “The Fraternal Order of Police has been called upon to boycott Nike for capitalizing on this former professional football player because he attracts controversy,” Canterbury says in the release. “In our experience, boycotts...

Popular “What happened?” diagnoses include then–FBI Director James Comey’s letter, the Russians or a lack of visits to Wisconsin. But Jeff Roorda says the turning point of 2016 came on night two of the Democratic National Convention. “The minute that Michael Brown’s mother walked out on stage, Hillary Clinton lost that election.” Wearing an orange polo shirt and slacks, 53-year-old Roorda leans back in an office chair at the Saint Louis Police Officers Association. His title is “business manager,” but he’s unofficially a lightning rod — for his aggressive critique of Ferguson protesters and defense of local cops such as...
