examiner.com — This morning America awoke to news of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's latest plan to pass President Obama's unpopular and massive health care "reform" bill. It's pretty ingenious - Pelosi will just "deem" the bill as passed by the House without actually holding a vote on the bill. . . .

Cornflakes in cereal killer warning By Rosemary Desmond May 13, 2008 03:28pm Article from: AAP CLIMATE change could lead to "killer cornflakes" with the most potent liver toxin ever recorded, an environmental health conference has been told. The effects of the toxins, known as mycotoxins, have been known since the Middle Ages when rye bread contaminated with ergot fungus was a staple part of the European diet, environmental health researcher Lisa Bricknell of Central Queensland University (CQU) said. "People started suffering mass hallucinations, manic depression, gangrene, abortions, reduced fertility and painful, convulsive death," Ms Bricknell told the 10th World Congress...

Throughout the campaign, Obama has often been the benificiary of "viral" videos (the 1984 mash up, Obama girl, etc) but rarely, if ever, the victim of one. This animated cartoon, by editorial cartoonist Grey Blackwell of the Raleigh News Observer, however, hits Obama where it hurts and is one of the growing signs that Obamania may be wearing thin. Perhaps even more so because Blackwell published the cartoon on Thursday, just before Obama got caught up in the small town America controversy that he's been trying to spin his way out of for the last 48 hours. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3_jh2dO78U

They are being sold by London-based costume maker Angels. Auctioneers expect the plain, brown robe of Guinness's character, Obi-Wan Kenobi, to fetch at least £40,000. But Guinness, who died in 2000, was not the only one to have worn the...

Two self-styled Jedi Knights are stepping up an intergalactic campaign for formal recognition. Umada and Yunyun, also known as John Wilkinson and Charlotte Law, want the UN to acknowledge "The Force" is worthy of being called a religion. The couple claim to be part of the UK's fourth largest religious group, after 400,000 people recorded their faith as "Jedi" in the 2001 Census. They say that as a religion, they deserve tolerance and respect. November the 16th is the annual International Day for Tolerance. And as part of a global battle worthy of Luke Skywalker's efforts against the Empire, the...

In these last days, the Bible says it will be a time of mass hybridization and the mixture and corruption of human DNA by fallen angels, also known as "Aliens." The government is and has been, conditioning the existence of aliens through Hollywood, science fiction, cartoons, and other sources. However, they are not telling you the whole truth. These Aliens are not ascended masters, or enlightened ones, or beings from galaxies millions of miles away, nor are they our forefathers or original creators. They are fallen angels who were kicked out of heaven for their rebellion against the headship...

GLEN Rodgers found the force against him when he was thrown in a cell overnight for breaking into his own home while dressed as a Jedi Knight. Star Wars nut Glen, 25, had been to a fancy dress party, but forgot his keys. So he used his light sabre to smash a window in the lean-to at his rented flat. A neighbour heard the crash and called cops, who collared Glen inside. They carted him off still wearing his outfit. Pub manager Glen was then locked up for 13 hours on suspicion of criminal damage in Barnstaple, Devon. He was...

Incense burned as monks clad in yellow robes performed a Buddhist ceremony Saturday for a police officer killed when his vehicle plunged from an open drawbridge. Officers Robert Nguyen, 30, and Shawn Carson died after their truck fell 45 feet from the fog-shrouded drawbridge into the Hackensack River on the night of Dec. 25. Divers found Carson's body about 90 minutes after the accident. They found Nguyen five days later.... (snip) Nguyen's fellow officers recalled a youthful-looking man who once spent two hours on the Lincoln Highway Bridge successfully talking a suicidal person out of jumping. "He was known as...

I didn’t get to see Episode III, Revenge of the Sith in the theater. I wanted to, but things were just too busy, and I was less impressed by Episodes I and II than I was with IV through VI, so it wasn’t a matter of priority. I was also put off a bit by the title. I knew that Episode VI had originally been titled Revenge of the Jedi, but the title had been changed, even though it would have been correct. Here, it was dead wrong; there had been nothing for the Sith to take vengeance over. “Rise...

Just five days left until Santa makes his yearly appearance, and it leaves me wondering: Is Santa Claus a Jedi? Some friends and I are pretty much convinced Santa is a Jedi, for the following reasons: 1) He wears the same clothes all the time. 2) He has supernatural speed and agility. 3) He's a keeper of the peace, not a soldier. 4) He's an excellent pilot, and he has a speeder we call a sleigh. 5) I would be willing to bet Sith are on his "naughty" list. 6) Given that he is responsible for the manufacture of most...

Our 2-year-old has a new bedtime routine. "Noda," she says pleadingly. "Wanna go downstairs and watch Noda." "Noda," I'm almost embarrassed to admit, is Yoda. As in "Star Wars." As in funny little green Jedi master. "We can't watch Noda now," I tell her in my soothing, all-knowing mom voice. "Noda's sleeping. You need to sleep, too." During the day, we frequently talk about Yoda. As in, about once every 15 minutes. She imitates Yoda, using a squeaky high-pitched voice. When she sits down at her art table to color, she immediately hands me a crayon and orders me to...

PROUD house-owner Kevin Andrews. of Honley. wants to turn his home into a temple - a Jedi temple. Kev says: "At the last census, I registered my religion as Jedi. And so did thousands of other people. Now I want to turn my house into a Jedi Temple."Jedi Knights Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi fought the good fight against evil in the Star Wars films. But their popularity was a bit of a surprise when the 2001 census for England and Wales asked people's religion. The census-takers prepared a list of 179 that included everything from Amish to African Methodist, Mennonite to...

Folks, first the good news: I watched Star Wars Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith twice. I also read the excellent novelization of the script by Matthew Woodring Stover. Of course, this is a great saga, good story-telling almost 30 years in the making. I was there, 12 years old when the first Star Wars came out, standing on line on a stormy day in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and like many other fans, have watched the franchise grow and read uncounted novels involving the characters we all love. Star Wars is a morality tale. One may see countless influences...

New York — As his final American revival meeting continued Saturday, a fragile Billy Graham was met onstage by former President Clinton, who honored the evangelist, calling him “a man I love.” Clinton spoke briefly before Graham's sermon and recalled how the man known as America's pastor had refused to preach before a segregated audience in Arkansas decades ago when that state was in a bitter fight over school desegregation. Graham called the Clintons “wonderful friends” and “a great couple,” quipping that the former president should become an evangelist and allow “his wife to run the country.” Graham, 86, then...
