The thing is, liberals believe in incrementalism, even if they don’t get everything they want, they just keep going. Yes, this isn’t what they want, but at least they live to fight another day.

It’s the same with the health reform bill. Liberals may be whining about it, but at least it now has their foot in the door. It needed to be stopped dead in it’s tracks, but just the fact that a bill will go into effect, it gives them now traction to ultimately carry out their goals.

You’re right on both counts. And we Conservatives need to use that tactic and a few other choice liberal tactics (like street rallies) but with our Conservative twist on them (truth, good to great behavior, cleaning up after ourselves and respecting law enforcement).

I recall reading about the commitment of the communists (of the past, and I suppose to some degree today). They were committed even to the point of dying for their cause. The writers suggested, why can’t *we* have that same level of commitment and passion - only for the Truth (they were writing about the Church). And if you back off a notch or two from the divine and simply ask, can we be as or MORE committed to the Truth and our families and our nation as the liberals are to enviro-wackism and socialism, imagine what we could accomplish?

To the Chinese government nothing matters more than the secure/stable development of their economy. The whole idea of dealing with climate change is about sacrificing the development of the economy to slow down global warming. China and India have populations that have lived in REAL poverty for far too long to tolerate any sacrifice of it for something that is still questionable in science. As a result, China and India walked out.

What I am opposed to is industrialists and bankers of any stripe taking advantage of bad public policy and we all know that happens. The money just flows into different pockets. Sure we have enjoyed a long period of prosperity based on the flawed credit model but now the bills are coming due. I’m all for the basic tenets of The Club for growth but I’m not so naive to think that the corruption and waste is not just as bad when the Republicans are in power. I’m still a conservative but don’t consider myself a republican anymore.

I have no quarrel with the sincere effort to protect the earth, clean up pollution, conservation, wise use of resources, etc. In fact, I have been at the forefront of such efforts long before it became a fashionable left-wing fad!

It’s the IDOLATRY towards Gaia that is SO STOOPID! It worships the creation rather than the Creator.

St. Paul warned about that in Romans. He said it would be a sign of the coming of the end.
