Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Wednesday warned that Donald Trump is a “loose cannon” and said the United States should not take a risk on an unreliable candidate, according to Reuters. "He is a loose cannon, and loose cannons tend to misfire," she said in an interview with CNN, citing Trump stances including a claim that climate change was a Chinese hoax. The comments came as Trump appears to be the Republican presidential nominee, especially after his opponents Ted Cruz and John Kasich both stepped down following Trump’s victory in the Indiana primary. Clinton said in the interview that...

Full Title: Poll: Should President Obama nominate someone to replace Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia? While the sudden death of a Supreme Court justice is always noteworthy, the passing of Justice Antonin Scalia months before the 2016 presidential election has sparked a political debate. The question is whether President Barack Obama, a Democrat, should nominate someone to replace the conservative Scalia on the high court, or just wait until the next president is elected in November. -snip- What do you think? Vote in the poll below and leave your thoughts in the comment section to chime in.

Here's another question certain to divide Americans this year: Should President Obama be allowed to appoint (and should the Senate confirm) a Supreme Court justice to replace Antonin Scalia? Should that process be delayed until after the presidential election, as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has pledged to pursue? "The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice," McConnell said. "Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new President." Several of the GOP candidates agree, including Ben Carson, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. -snip- What do you think? Should...

Poll: Ban Assault Weapons? No 8 votes Yes 3 votes The Boston Globe has a pair of articles, Pro-Con style on the question: Should the U.S. ban assault weapons? There are few respondents at present, with No having 8 votes and Yes having 3 votes. This is in the range that we usually expect in Second Amendment related polls, with Second Amendment supporters usually outnumbering disarmists by three to ten times as many. The link to the poll is here, near the bottom. This is an unusually small number of votes on a Second Amendment related issue. Definition of  disarmist ©2016...

Reaction to the president’s actions, both on Monday in advance of the news conference and on Tuesday afterward, was fast and furious. Some hailed the measures as a step in the right direction, while others lambasted the president for attacking the Second Amendment. In the comments on this site, that spectrum was clear: From commenter “I’disagree”: “Obama’s plan does nothing to curb the number of illegal guns sold, stolen, traded and used by criminals.”

As France and the rest of the world comes to grips with Friday night's horrific terrorist attacks in and around Paris that claimed at least 129 lives, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is blaming tough gun control laws in France for the dimensions of the tragedy. At a rally in southeast Texas Saturday afternoon, Trump told the crowd "nobody had guns but the bad guys." "You can say what you want, but if they had guns -- if our people had guns, if they were allowed to carry -- it would have been a much, much different situation," Trump said,...

Looking forward to these results, especially the consensus vote. Fox News’ criteria for its first debate seems, unfortunately, to bias strongly toward name recognition rather than broad appeal, and I think that hurdle undermines the meaningful policy discussions that these early events should foster. Put another way: If a candidate could get consensus support but can’t get in the door of the debate, then is the debate really representative of the preferences of the Republican electorate? Thanks for participating. (POLL-AT-LINK)
