Senate hopefuls Alan Grayson and David Jolly have agreed to an "open debate" in Orlando on Monday in which they will take questions from Florida voters.

The bipartisan Open Debate Commission announced Tuesday that the in-person, studio debate, set to take place at 7 p.m. Monday at the WUCF station at UCF, will feature moderators choosing questions from "the top 30 vote-getters picked by Florida voters."

Debate moderators are scheduled to include the YouTube newschannel "The Young Turks," and the Vine newschannel "Independent Journal Review."

Florida residents can visit FloridaOpenDebate.com through 12 p.m. on Monday to vote on questions to be asked. According to the commission, an "open video feed" will allow quality video feed for rebroadcast by any outlet.

A great chance to influence an important Senate debate. Go to the site and post questions. Or vote for questions that will (a) support conservative positions or (b) force the Democrat to endorse silly left-wing positions or alienate their supporters. For example, a pending question is "Should able bodied childless adults be required to work receive food stamps?"

Anyone can hold a debate, but neither Jolly nor Grayson has won his party’s nomination, and both face substantial competitors ...

Grayson is correct about one thing, Cruz should not be seeking to become Usurp the II.

Here’s a transcript from a radio interview with Alan Colmes that Alan Grayson gave last year.

Grayson stated he would file a lawsuit challenging Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential candidacy if he won the Republican nomination because Cruz was born in Canada.

He said Cruz was “technically not an American,” according to the transcript, to which Colmes noted that “like Obama” Cruz’s mother was born in the United States.

“It’s interesting to me that the people who had a problem with Obama’s birth certificate don’t have a problem with Ted Cruz who literally was born in another country and renounced his Canadian citizenry,” Colmes said, according to the transcript.

“I don’t know, the Constitution says natural born Americans, so now we’re counting Canadians as natural born Americans? How does that work?”

Grayson responded. “I’m waiting for the moment that he gets the nomination and then I will file that beautiful lawsuit saying that he’s unqualified for the job because he’s in eligible.”

Colmes is correct in asking the rhetorical question, “now we’re counting Canadians as natural born Americans?”

And now we’re quoting two known liberal pieces of excrement on FR in order to tear down Ted Cruz?

My how far FR has fallen...

Ted’s Truth bites, don’t it.

He is not eligible and I agree with anyone that states the truth about the issue. Why would the DNC not go after him? TKO.

He’s d@mn lucky his own state of Texas has not moved forward on a bill that would require the Texas SOS to examine an American BC from one of the 50 states before going on a Texas ballot in the General Election. The Texas bill is sponsored by 3 R TX legislators and co-sponsored by 21 R more!!

You know not of what you speak.

You’re using quotations from liberal pieces of $hit in your noob attempt to make a point is not lost on me...

I’ve read far too many other posts where Ted’s citizenship has been upheld...so this post of yours smacks of liberalism disguised in the constant $hit flinging between the two camps here on FR...

IOW, since you attempted to smear me with an ad hominem of sorts, you can go pound sand.

Folks like you and posts like yours are a prime example of why this forum has become so fractured, but seeing as how you’re new around here, you have no purchase in ensuring it remains a forum for civil discourse and debate.

Cruz supporters do not believe in the U.S. Constitution even though they know that there is a huge difference between being a citizen and a naturalized citizen. Madison understood that even U.S. citizens produce aliens if they are born on anything but American soil which is why he had the Naturalization Law of 1790 changed and NBC clause removed, never to reappear again. Every single president & vp was born on our soil, why is Cruz so special he deserves a pass?

Every citizenship document states that children born overseas must be naturalized. While it is automatic it is still a naturalization. Only a citizen born on American soil is natural born; doesn’t have to go through a naturalization process and is eligible for president. Cruz does not wish for you to understand that and that is extremely selfish.

Cruz has no chance to obtain the required number of delegates so he should have done the honorable thing and dropped out so that the PEOPLE can elect someone and not the GOPe. True Americans would ask Cruz to drop out. If the situation was reversed and Trump’s ‘wins’ were only poached delegates from Cruz, I would be embarrassed for him

As far as FR forum goes, I read the rules and observe and respect the words of its founder JR.

Cruz has lost it fair and square and should step aside for the sake of the country. If his continued efforts at thievery split and destroy the party

Cruz lost the primary vote and is now aiding and abetting the enemy (the GOPe)in their treasonous attempt to deny the nomination to the winner.

Cruz is a sore loser turned traitor against the grassroots voters.

And the foolish neophyte thinks the GOPe is going to let him have a shot at the presidency if he helps them block Trump?
Laughable if it wasn’t so serious.

I agree with Grayson only that it seems inconsistent for those who thought Obama was not a citizen by circumstances of birth to support Cruz’s claim to be an NBC.

Like most courts, I believe Cruz to be an NBC because I believe that means “a citizen due to circumstances of birth.” I have heard other, narrower interpretations bandied about, such as requiring either both parents’ citizenship and/or birth on USA soil, but I have yet to see a court uphold either.

They always kick the cases out on technicalities, lack of standing , missed filing dates, etc.

If your beliefs regarding NBC were the law, Congress would not have needed to attempt to amend the Constitution a dozen times during my lifetime to try and change the meaning. They have tried numerous times to allow for foreign born citizens to be eligible and substituted the requirement to citizen for 15 or 20 or 25 years. All of the attempts have failed.

44 Presidents all born on our soil, 47 Vice Presidents all born on our soil.

Why is so important to erode our national sovereignty and drop this requirement and open the door for the entire world to be POTUS.

It’s the polar opposite of nationalism, patriotism, and conservatism.
And the worst part about it this is that he knew before all others that he is not qualified. Cruz is a deceiver.

I believe that a baby that comes out of an American-citizen mother is a natural born citizen. Disagree if you like.

Keep shredding it ‘til there’s nothing left!
Cuban father
Expat mother
Foreign soil

You devalue and dilute the Constitution and open the office of POTUS to hundreds of thousands of highly unsuitable people.

Why is it so important to elect a foreign born as Commander in Chief?

Funny how Congress has tried to amend the requirement at least 18 times during my lifetime and each time they have failed. 44 presidents & 47 vice presidents all born on our soil.

Why is deceitful Ted so special that we must change the Constitution to accommodate him? (he lacks a race card)

Gee thanks.
Why do we have to change the constitution to allow for Ted or any other foreign born to be president? Don’t pretend that you “know it’s settled law,” when it clearly is not. 2/3 majority vote is required in both the House & Senate.

Don’t you remember when they wanted to Amend the Constitution for Arnold? 2004

“Several measures have been introduced in Congress, including a joint resolution by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., and Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, which proposes a constitutional amendment that would extend eligibility for the presidency to immigrants who have held U.S. citizenship for at least 20 years. Schwarzenegger became a citizen in 1983, Granholm in 1980. Prohibiting foreign-born Americans from occupying the White House..... Madeleine Albright, the former secretary of State who was born in Czechoslovakia, recently backed amending the Constitution. ...”

“The odds are against proponents of the change, which would require two-thirds majority votes in the House and Senate, then approval by three-fourths of the states....”

“A recent CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll found that 67 percent opposed changing the Constitution to allow immigrants to be president. When half the poll sample was asked the same question with Schwarzenegger’s name, opposition dropped slightly to 58 percent.”

“Proponents also must contend with the political impression that the nascent movement is being mounted for one Republican.”

“Democrats may be nervous putting in place a constitutional amendment that might have the immediate impact of promoting Governor Schwarzenegger’s candidacy,” Tushnet said.”
