The 4th and final of the Presidential and Vice Presidential debates have come and gone for 2012. Here are the three things we can walk away with. - Romney can't lose a debate coin toss, going 3 for 3. Which of course means nothing. - Obama gets more moderated debate time, going 3 for 3 in the time column. Which of course means nothing. - Free Republic crashes before any debate and doesn't get back to normal until dawn the next day. I have to ask this very seriously, do you know that this site has been completely unusable to perhaps thousands and thousands of others during either the first Presidential or Vice-Presidential debate and for an hour or so after their respective conclusions? This has never happened in previous election cycles during debates, election night results or during large breaking news events. Slow? Yes. Unusable, no. I've had multiple tabs opened for the debates this year and the FR one just wheel spin, wheel spin, wheel spin... blank page, no progress bar moving on the address bar. It's just the internet...

Mystery charges on my Credit Card caused me to issue a fraud notice and I now have a new account number. FR has my old number for my monthly charges. I want to continue my donations, so what to do?

First of all, before anyone gets upset, this thread is not a complaint, not a critique. FR works fine for me. I'm a happy camper. But I am curious as to how others navigate around the site, and what, if any tweaks might be worth considering; and maybe provide some food for thought for the folks in charge.

IMHO, since this is a very important day of activism to show support for Chick-Fil-A and traditional marriage, I thought this thread could be used for FReeper reports and pics from their visits to Chick-Fil-A's around the country since there probably won't be much "positive" coverage from the LSM. FReepers could post their experiences and pics and maybe even "counter protest" pics. Folks should maybe remember to bring a camera (cell phone) to take pics with just in case something confrontational happens. Go FR and Chick-Fil-A!!

We can probably raise the funds we need to operate FR at our current level and at the current market price for online advertising if we run a banner ad at the top of every page and at least one rectangular ad in the above the fold body of the page and a couple rectangular ads in the sidebar. I'll admit it's just not the same when FR goes off line. The last time something like this occurred was during the summer right about when Hurricane Irene hit, if my memory serves me correctly. For about a week now, in multiple browsers and from iPad and iMac, Free Republic has been deadly slow. Frequently it times out waiting to load. This is on FIOS at top speed, both wireless and wired. No other site is even slightly slow for me. I don't see any other threads mentioning this, and I've posted to the yahoo group with no responses, so I am assuming it's me. What could I be doing wrong? Or has this been your experience too? What's up?
