A woman had to be rescued by police and firefighters after she became stuck inside a giant banyan tree in Key West. According to the Key West Police Facebook page, Officer Scott Standerwick and Fire Rescue helped the local woman after she somehow got stuck in the tree. Police also posted a photo of the woman with part of her legs and body sticking out of the tree with officers nearby. "Protect and serve!" the Facebook post proclaimed.

Authorities are investigating after a part-time jail guard accidentally shot himself in the leg as he waited to interview for a janitorial job at a Florida Panhandle elementary school. ORLANDO, Fla. — A man is claiming self-defense after another customer at a gas station pulled a gun out during an argument early Monday. The incident happened at about 12:48 a.m. between Titus Bernard, 29, and Delvin Jamar Broner, 36, the Orlando Police Department said. The altercation started as an argument between the two that was instigated by Broner, investigators said. The situation escalated and Broner, a convicted felon, pulled out a gun.
