Ben Carson got thousands of votes in NY and even beat Ted Cruz in one district

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A vote for Ben Carson in Tuesday's primary really didn't matter. Not only did Carson drop out of the race last month, he actively rejected his own votes.

But that didn't stop thousands of people from checking the "Ben Carson" box on the ballot yesterday. In fact, Carson even beat U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in one district.

Either people in new York are severely uninformed, or they just flat out hate the remaining choices.

no worries ... I am sure Cruz is scheming to rob Trump off all the delegates he earned here anyway.

I think Trump/Carson would be a fine ticket

Bring on board Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams too (not because they are all black, but because they are all brilliant)

There has to be someone on the ticket who knows how DC politics work, and is respected. Otherwise, you're giving credence to hillary's "experience" issue. Trump needs someone with experience in DC who actually accomplishes positive things.

In some precincts Cruz tied with Spiro Agnew.

I would not be at all surprised if the GOPe throws both Trump and Cruz under the bus at the Republican Convention and gives the nomination to Kasich and makes Rubio his VP.

Do you have a particular person in mind, are there multiple people, or is this a null set?

Is Clarence Thomas sufficiently accomplished?

Do you have anyone in mind?

Marcia Blackburn from TN seems real interesting. Jeff Sessions....that would be too much of a loss to the US Senate. Clarance Thomas?....not an experienced pol or campaigner and needed on the Supreme Court. Chris Christie?......don't know that he'd bring in more votes. Marco Rubio?....personally I could see promise for him, or Walker. Both might still be independent enough of the party elite to be effectively mentored.

I trust Trump to make a good decision.

Who would you like to see as VP choice?

Possibly neither.

They may have been Bernie Backers who figured that the system was rigged against him and wanted to make a statement against the perceived Cruz rigging.

Unlikely? Maybe.

In Scot Walkers recall victory, he won many votes of liberals who deeply disliked him. Why? It was because they were just as angry as conservatives were at the flood of outside money supporting the recall and stood with Walker because, "I don't like him but, he won the first time fair and square. People from outside of Wisconsin need to mind their own business."

The average American, from either side of the aisle, doesn't react well to any they perceive as "unfair" (as in crooked, or rigged.)

What better way to give both parties the finger and still make point concisely?

I took your phrase “accomplished in getting things done in Washington” as ruling out those who only had experience as Governors. Sessions did come to my mind as a possibility. I wouldn’t touch Rubio or Christie personally, and was thinking that your simple description arguably does produce a null set.

The reason why we have none of our people in Washington is that when they get to Washington, they cease to be our people. (Reagan, perhaps slightly misquoted).

What about Marcia Blackburn? I don’t know much about her, except that she seems to be a highly regarded and effective Constitutional Conservative.

You likely know more about her than I. I could say Pub from Tennessee with a relatively good reputation, but I have no idea how effective she has actually been. That one is resorted to grasping at fairly unknown straws says something.

I’m reminded of the real reason why D.C. has no nativity scenes—can’t find three wise men or a virgin.

Cruz should have hit him with this but did not.

What gets me about Carson is he has never spoken out about Obama-s abuse of the Bully Pulpit and the resultant conflicts plus assults and murders that came from it. Begining with revenge for Treyvon Martin attacks on non blacks by black gangbangers which resulted in about a score (20) of deaths and serious injuries.

One who has spoken out about it is Miilwaukee county Sheriff Clarke (D) who by the way is ran for re election this month and won April 6th .

Trump could have used that issue when Carson held a brief lead in the Iowa polls. Instead Trump set out and accused him of being everything from a pedophile, crazy, and questionable surgeon involved in abortions. Trump was unrelenting and cost Carson his polling lead during the November run up continung to drag this campaign into the mud..
