A spokeswoman for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirmed that the man was arrested early Wednesday, sometime after midnight, and appeared in court 7 a.m. Wednesday. A Southern California mosque was damaged by fire on Friday, and its leader said people there at the time believe it was intentionally set. Flames were reported just after noon at the Islamic Center of Palm Springs, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. A 17-year-old Bowie High School student was arrested in connection with threatening posts made on social media against her school. Shalaria Jones was arrested Wednesday night and charged with making terroristic threats on Twitter using a fake account. Pretending to be a “white” student at Bowie, Jones posted three threatening tweets -- one including a picture of a handgun with a threat of a school shooting. The tweets caused a “chaotic scene” when as many as 300 students left school out of fear for their safety, according to an arrest warrant.
