A few days after the Paris attacks that left hundreds dead and injured, Russia confirmed that a homemade explosive device was detonated on board MetroJet Flight 9268 in October, killing all 224 passengers. Since then, ISIS published images of the bomb that was detonated inside the airplane, saying that the Russian flight wasn't the original target. Instead, ISIS wanted to shoot down a Western plane.
The image below shows a Schweppes can, a detonator and a possible trigger switch, The Telegraph notes. The picture was posted in the latest edition of the Dabiq propaganda magazine, right alongside pictures of passports and IDs belonging to the dead passengers.
The items pictured in the magazine could have been sufficient for a suicide bomber to trigger the explosive device, former Royal Navy bomb disposal officer Dave Welch told The Telegraph. "The damage caused would be quite significant given the pressure caused by the explosion and the close confines within an aircraft. It would be quite capable of ripping a hole in an airliner," he said.

They’re wimping out and changing their tune. Right after the plane was destroyed ISIS bragged for several days that it was payback for Putin taaking Bashar’s side. Now that Putin’s kickking their butts they want a do-over.
You know if it was up to the Islamo-Nazis, they would be blowing up planes and doing Paris like mass murders everyday. I wonder what the lefts reaction would be if that happened. Ooops, too late, it does happen every day.......

Actually, I read that allegation in another thread here on FR yesterday or even the day before.
What, are they trying to make Russia feel better? That’s just stupid. I am sure in hindsight they are wishing they hit a squishy target.

One need not be a pyro to know that a 12 oz can can contain enough improvised detonation material to make a total mess of any air frame structure if properly placed.
Maybe someone educated enough to calculate joules from chemical reactions, but most pyros that survive know this anyway.

A letter to ISIS:
Hey, ISIS...
Hopefully, you won’t be targeting a U.S. airliner. After all, we aren’t doing anything to hurt you. In fact, our president referred to the ISIS attacks in France as, ‘setbacks’. A setback is not the kind of language that a leader would use if they were out to get you. So, please, don’t attack any U.S. airplane, since, Obama wouldn’t like it, but, you would surely get away with it. So, since you’re not our enemy, please don’t target any Americans. BTW, Obama hopes to release a bunch of your friends from Guantanamo, so, what other proof do you need that we’re not your enemy, and Obama is actually helping you? So, go ahead and feel emboldened by Obama’s lack of actions against you. Don’t you guys over there sometimes feel that, Obama might actually be one of you? His actions certainly do seem to support that view.
Hey, even John Kerry felt that, your heinous acts might have some justifications. So, take a hint: Obama and Kerry might actually be on your side.
