The White House’s budget office has notified federal agencies that the government is shutting down Tuesday, after lawmakers failed to reach an agreement on a temporary spending plan. Sylvia Mathews Burwell, the director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, said late Monday in a memorandum to agency heads that there was no indication Congress would approve a short-term funding measure before the midnight deadline. She said federal agencies should execute their plans for an orderly shutdown. The deadline for a shutdown came and went at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, after a lengthy battle between the Republican-controlled U.S. House...

Now is the time for all good tea partiers to come to the aid of Wisconsin. Fiscally conservative leaders in the Badger State are under coordinated siege from Big Labor, the White House, the liberal media and the judiciary. The yearlong campaign of union thuggery, family harassment and intimidation of Republican donors and businesses is about to escalate even further. This is the price the Right pays for doing the right thing. The most visible target is Gov. Scott Walker, who faces recall on June 5 over his tough package of state budget and public employee union reforms. Three state...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain has hauled $1 million in donations in recent days, a spokesman said on Thursday, despite accusations of sexual harassment that have consumed his campaign. The former pizza executive's fundraising took a jump once his ascent in the polls began about a month ago. He brought in $2 million in the first two weeks of October. Until then, he had raised about $5.2 million after entering the race in May.

Ben Lujan (D) -- Tom Mullins (R) -- Adam Kokesh (?)Incumbent U.S. Congressman Ben Lujan (D-NM, 3) was once considered 'safe' to win reelection to Congress. Yet Lujan voted for bringing Khalid Sheikh Mohammed here for federal trial, the health care bill, Cap and Trade, and the TARP bailout. In the only recent poll, a Democrat pollster now finds Lujan's lead over main Republican rival Tom Mullins has narrowed to within the margin of error, 40 to 36. Adam Kokesh running as a Republican in the primary against Mullins and his trailing Lujan only 40 to 32 are both far...

Bush administration lawyers whose secret memos justified waterboarding and other forms of torture will not be referred to authorities for possible sanctions, according to a forthcoming ethics report. Unnamed sources who spoke to Newsweek magazine said the Obama Justice Department’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) has concluded that John Yoo and Jay Bybee, who penned the infamous memos, used “poor judgment” but will not be subject to disciplinary action. Yoo and Bybee worked in the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel, along with Steven Bradbury, who is also named in the report. The conclusions of the OPR report provide yet...

RIP Prayer Request From Mountainflower ~ TAPS ~ It is with deep sadness that I relate the following to you.  On July 15 I received an email from Dan Small stating that our mutual friend, Hal Jones, has passed away after a 16-month or so battle with cancer. Hal Jones was with us in Washington, DC at Gathering of Eagles I.  It was an honor to get to know him and Dan, and to stand with him as a Marshal that day in March.  He has gone home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2008.  He is...

FROM EMAIL from Doug Lyvere, Eagles Up -- ...Code Pink is on the ropes. The Marines have been welcomed by the Chamber of Commerce. More people, civilian's and businesses, have started showing their support for Veteran's. Everyone's efforts have started to pay off. Everyone should be proud. So this time we're going to do it a little differently. Last time we designated Berkeley a "No spend zone". Some said this had zero impact. I disagree - we made a point and whether or not a negative financial impact was felt, we got a response. This time, I think we should...

Rolling Into Town on the Back of Fred's Hog Written by Melanie Morgan    Saturday, 22 March 2008 I admit it. I lied. A big, fat whopper. And I am NOT the least bit sorry abut it. I said in the media and in e-mail last Wednesday that our pro-troop side decided to stand down against the moonbats on the street during the 5th anniversary of the war in Iraq, and at Shattuck Square in Berkeley, Calif. where our Marine Recruiters are doing excellent work in spite of the near constant harassment. I told a fib.  I didn't want to tip our hand...

BERKELEY -- Berkeley is hosting a decidedly different kind of protest today. A couple hundred flag-waving leather-clad pro-troop bikers have roared into town to show their support for the often besieged Marines recruiting center in the city. "I'm here because I support my Marines," said Steve Bosshard, a retired San Francisco police officer who came from Santa Rosa. "I don't like what Berkeley's done. They don't realize the effect it has on the troops." The center was criticized by the Berkeley city council and is often the target of protests. Today's demonstrators, most of whom are military veterans, said they...
