The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit arrested a suspect in connection with the homicide of a toddler. The suspect is 29-year-old Joshua Riley of the 9900 block of Good Luck Road in Lanham. The victim is 23-month-old Anthony Winfrey of Lanham.

The divisions within the Bay Area’s Catholic community over gay rights hit Marin Catholic High School full force the other day, when a group of nuns walked out of their classes to protest the sponsors of a program intended to protect gay and lesbian teens from bullying. A Texas police officer was following protocol Tuesday when he was caught on video throwing a drunk woman to the ground, knocking her unconscious, his police chief said. On cell phone video, a witness captured Round Rock Officer Ben Johnson slamming the woman to the ground in front of her 6-year-old daughter in a strip mall parking lot. BAYONNE -- A woman and her daughter who were found dead in their Bayonne home earlier this year died of an accidental drug overdose, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said yesterday. MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) — The president of the Muncie chapter of the NAACP sold cocaine to a confidential informant on several occasions, according to investigators. Timothy Miles, 49, was arrested Wednesday by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office. A probable cause affidavit stated that he sold cocaine three times. On one occasion, he is accused of trying to solicit sex for drugs. Documents stated that Miles gave a full confession when he was arrested. A local Marine veteran’s therapy dog that disappeared for four months has been found safe and reunited with her owner. Animal Services' officials received a call on Thursday morning that Nahla had been found in the San Ysidro area; the residents there said they found the dog as a stray in the area. Nahla was rescued safe, save for some serious skin issues, fleas and a bit emaciated, but should fully recover. The jury in the Etan Patz murder trial went through a seventh day of deliberations Thursday. Pedro Hernandez, 54, confessed to killing the 6-year-old boy in May 1979. He said he lured Patz into a bodega basement and strangled him. The defense, however, says Hernandez is mentally ill and made up the story.
