AS I write this my screen is all pink. From what I can find out it is not caused by a virus. It comes and goes, but is very annoying. I have removed the cable from the monitor to the computer and cleaned it up and retried it after making a reconnection, It didn't help. I also rebooted the computer to no avail. I even bought a top line registry cleaner and my computer works faster, but the pink screen is back. It comes and goes. I am thinking of replacing the monitor because it is old but I would...

It’s eight years to the day since Steve Jobs first revealed the iPhone to the world. It was nothing short of a miracle. Before the iPhone came out, smartphones were clunky devices, half keyboard and half screen.Full websites didn’t run on mobile phones, so companies were forced to build weak, mobile versions of their sites. The iPhone changed everything. And yet the iPhone experience we all enjoy today didn’t happen overnight. It took years of Apple adding feature upon feature. By today’s standards, the original iPhone was a useless brick. As a reminder of how far the iPhone has come, we’ve put...

That means that this particular variant of poker, called heads-up limit hold’em (HULHE), can be considered solved. ... A few other popular games have been solved before. In particular, in 2007 a team from the same computer-science department at Alberta — including Neil Burch, a co-author of the latest study — cracked draughts, also known as checkers. But poker is harder to solve than draughts. Chess and draughts are examples of perfect-information games, in which players have complete knowledge of all past events and of the present situation in a game. In poker, in contrast, there are some things a...

"We really try to trick all of your senses into believing that you're there," said Nate Mitchell, co-founder of Oculus, a startup acquired last year by Facebook. Considered among the most promising developers of virtual reality gear, Oculus says its next generation is even more immersive. The new headset has improved ergonomics, optics and audio quality, and software that enables better head tracking to follow the user's movements. With the headset on, you find yourself in a world with dinosaurs or extraterrestrials that seem real enough to touch. The image follows your movements when you look up, down or behind.

Yahoo’s Flickr is the place that many people go to save and share their digital photographs, and has long been where people upload their best shots. That means that Flickr has quite a lot of interesting information on which cameras are being used thanks to the EXIF data that is embedded in the images uploaded to its website. Over the last few years Flickr has been taking that information and pulling it all together in order to see which cameras are being used most amongst those who take advantage of the service. Granted, people may be removing the EXIF data...

“The U.S. Federal Communications Commission is considering fining AT&T Inc. for failing to adequately notify customers about reductions in mobile data speeds for some heavy users, a practice known as ‘data throttling,’ the company said,” Karen Gullo and Todd Shields report for Bloomberg. “The Federal Trade Commission accused the company in a 2014 lawsuit of deceiving at least 3.5 million smartphone customers who paid for unlimited data plans and had their transmission speeds drastically reduced. The company disclosed the FCC probe in court documents seeking dismissal of the case,” Gullo and Shields report. “AT&T says the FTC lawsuit deals with...

(Reuters) - Apple Inc won the dismissal on Thursday of a lawsuit accusing it of defrauding consumers by selling MacBook laptop computers that contained "logic boards" it knew were defective, and which routinely failed within two years. U.S. District Judge William Alsup in San Francisco said the plaintiffs, Uriel Marcus and Benedict Verceles, failed to show that Apple made "affirmative misrepresentations," despite citing online complaints and Apple marketing statements calling the laptops "state of the art" or the "most advanced" on the market. "Plaintiffs have failed to allege that Apple's logic boards were unfit for their ordinary purposes or lacked...
