CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the Cleveland man shot dead Tuesday morning while he and another suspect invaded an East Side home in an attempted robbery. Officials say Robert L. Brown, 20, died near the Rudyard Road home where he and another man beat and pistol-whipped resident Everton Mosby, 24. Mosby shot Brown and cohort Willie R. Cleveland Clinic Chief Executive Toby Cosgrove told employees this morning that the health system may have to eliminate jobs to meet a target of cutting $330 million from its 2014 budget. Ariel Castro found dead hanged in cell

Ohio corrections officials say Ariel Castro who held three women captive in his home for nearly a decade has committed suicide at a state prison facility. Spokeswoman JoEllen Smith says 53-year-old Castro was found hanging in his cell around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient. Prison medical staff performed CPR before Castro was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Cleveland police officials said Friday they're disciplining 75 of officers for their involvement in a police chase that ended in the shooting deaths of an unarmed man and woman, The Plain Dealer reports. The pair were shot at 137 times while in their car, parked in a middle school parking lot. No officers were injured in what police called a "full blown-out" firefight. Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine told reporters in February that "there is nothing normal about this case. ... This is a tragedy." A day after Tanner Scheppers reported he was unavailable after being “sucker-punched” while leaving a Cleveland restaurant, a different version of the story is being reported, as well. In it, Scheppers was the instigator in a fight at a Cleveland restaurant/bar at approximately 2:30 a.m.. He was one of three Rangers at Pannini’s, along with reliever Joe Nathan and catcher A.J. Life on the road can be dangerous for professional athletes. Unfortunately for Texas Rangers reliever Tanner Scheppers, he found that out the hard way after the team arrived in Cleveland on Thursday night for their weekend series against the Indians. According to Drew Davison of the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, Scheppers was attacked by a group of young males in downtown Cleveland after going out for a food run. <p>Texas Rangers RHP Tanner Scheppers was not available in Friday’s extra-inning loss to Cleveland because he was dealing with the after-effects of being attacked by “several young males,” on a street two blocks from the team hotel Thursday night.</p> <p>Scheppers said he was out getting food Thursday night when he was attacked and “sucker-punched.” He did not recall the time, but did contact the police.
