CLEVELAND, Ohio – United Airlines confirmed Saturday that departures from Cleveland will be cut by about 60 percent due to unprofitable operations in the city. Northeast Ohio Media Group spoke with several travelers to get their feelings on what the cutbacks will mean. Here’s what they had to say: Omar Garcia of Cleveland uses United to fly to Puerto Rico. It’s what he’s flown since he came to America five years ago from Bayamon, Puerto Rico. It’s the same airline his mother, brothers, sisters and their families used to move to America. He was at the airport Saturday to pick...

As those in power continues to hang onto the 19th century model of education or accept Common Core indoctrination for their students, parents are moving toward becoming the “deciders” as they chose charter and private schools, homeschooling, and online programs, it is leaving thousands of empty school buildings all across America. According to a recent study among the cities with vacant school buildings are

Rumor has it Rob Chudzinski (sic) will be fired as Browns coach after today's loss to Pittsburgh. IMHO, it's Lombardi and Banner that ought to be fired. Just saying. Five Pro-Bowler's plus one alternate, and an abysmal record...this tells me it's not the coach, it's the player personnel he was given to work with. Perhaps the Browns really could re-build, like KC did, but not if there is absolutely no stability to the program, and we have "back-stabbing crap-weasels" in charge of the draft/front office (quote from a friend - sums it up, check the history in C-town!)...

Obama to talk economy during visit to Cleveland steel plant By Joe Vardon The Columbus Dispatch Tuesday November 12, 2013 5:46 AM President Barack Obama won re-election in Ohio last year on the winds of the argument that the economy here and elsewhere was improving. On Thursday, he’ll be back, but Democrats’ message on the economy has changed now that the goal is to defeat Republican Gov. John Kasich next fall. Obama will visit the ArcelorMittal steel plant in Cleveland to “deliver remarks on the economy and the strength of American manufacturing,” said a White House official. How Obama’s talk...

Cleveland Clinic Chief Executive Toby Cosgrove told employees this morning that the health system may have to eliminate jobs to meet a target of cutting $330 million from its 2014 budget. The Clinic will first offer early voluntary retirement to about 3,000 employees, who will be notified in October. It’s not clear if any further cuts in staff could be avoided if all these employees choose to retire, however. About 60 percent of the hospital system’s costs are in labor, salaries and benefits, said spokeswoman Eileen Sheil, and “there’s only so much you can do with non-staff cost cutting. “Healthcare...

Cleveland police officials said Friday they're disciplining 75 of officers for their involvement in a police chase that ended in the shooting deaths of an unarmed man and woman, The Plain Dealer reports. The pair were shot at 137 times while in their car, parked in a middle school parking lot. No officers were injured in what police called a "full blown-out" firefight. Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine told reporters in February that "there is nothing normal about this case. ... This is a tragedy." In November, about 60 police vehicles pursued the two suspects in a 25-minute chase spanning...
