Each week we look forward to the Friday News Dump, that special time when the Government "dumps" a news story that will be unfavorable to them should it be well publicized. The theory being the public will be too busy to pay attention to the news during the busy weekend and when the news cycle begins on Monday, the "dropped" story will be old news. Yesterday, Obama Administration literally dropped one of its biggest supporters: ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) Read more about it on The Hippo's Ass Blog

Clearly, Rep. Wilson’s “uncalibrated” timing of his outburst will sidetrack the easily distracted from the real issue at hand: Last month the President said “This is not just about the 47 million Americans who don't have any health insurance at all.” Magically last night, we went down from 47 million uninsured in America to “over” 30 million American “citizens”. And that was without spending a dime! Who are these missing 17 odd million uninsured people? The Department of Homeland Security reported that the number of illegal aliens as of January 2008 was about 12 million. Imagine that. What's five million...

But this, as someone has said, can be a teachable moment. The real speech you should let your children hear will come Wednesday night, when the President addresses a joint session of Congress, the first non-State of the Union type speech since 9/11. Let your kids hear what the President has to say, then discuss it with them. Might I even suggest a few topics for discussion as well...

President Obama has proposed a new body that would enhance Medicare’s ability to deny care to the elderly and disabled based on government bureaucrats’ arbitrary valuations of those patients’ lives. Here are two examples of how a Government run Health Care plan would operate. A Death Panel By Any Other Name Would Smell the Same

I am reposting these from last night for the morning people. I attended the John Dingell Town Hall for Health Care last night in Romulus Michigan. Congressman Dingell did not promote the event at all, yet there were easily 600+ people for a meeting hall that would only fit 150. People waited outside for 90 minutes for a second session that followed the first. I was able to get into the second session and tape the following videos. Watch John Dingell Town HallMore Reaction to the Health Care BillThe front rows were mostly filled with Dingell supporters. Funny that none...

Environmental protesters sent a 50-foot anniversary card to Ford Motor Company Wednesday. At 10 a.m., two climbers unfurled a banner proclaiming that ``Ford is Driving America's Oil Addiction`` from the 13-story Griswold Building in downtown Detroit. Suze Bono, 21, and Matt Leonard, 24, descended from the roof of the Griswold and the neighboring Wingate Apartments to hang the sign, then refused to surrender voluntarily to police. Described as experienced amateur climbers, the pair hung suspended from cables for nearly two hours until they surrendered. Police arrested the pair along with three other group members who helped them. Michael Brune, director...

Two Dearborn men were arrested late Sunday after police said they caught them videotaping the Ambassador Bridge and found two quarter-sticks of dynamite and several shotgun shells in their car. Patrol officers from the Third (Vernor) Precinct spotted the men during a routine patrol about 10 p.m., said Officer Bernadette Najor, a police spokeswoman. The men, who weren't identified, were taken into custody and were being questioned by the FBI, Najor said. "Even though the homeland security level has been lowered, we're still patrolling our borders, and we're not taking any chances with our city," Najor said. The men were...

Four buddies parked their car by the Detroit River early Tuesday morning, where they said they sat reminiscing about high school. They pulled over near the Detroit Wastewater Treatment Plant on Jefferson and Dearborn Street. They had a laptop computer. And they are Arab Americans. Soon, they were surrounded by five Detroit Police cars and had cops screaming in their faces. Five more cars arrived, then five more. Assem Musaibli, 21, said officers began insinuating that he and his friends had evil intentions. "They told us we fit a description," Musaibli recalled Wednesday from his Dearborn home. "I said, 'Why,...

DEARBORN -- Nine Metro Detroit residents and two New Yorkers have been indicted on federal racketeering charges that claim the group funneled cash from illegal cigarette sales to Hezbollah, a Lebanese militia and political party linked to terrorism.

The 15-page indictment unsealed Tuesday claims the group bought more than $500,000 in cigarettes in North Carolina, where taxes are 50 cents per carton, and illegally sold them in Michigan, where the tax is now $12.50 per carton. The group, headed by Dearborn resident Elias Mohamad Akhdar, also bought cigarettes from the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation in New York, authorities say. Profits went to Hezbollah, the government contends.
