Michael Williams, who is running for the 5th Congressional District seat, proposes a 1 percent "NASA tax" on SF books, comics and any other space-related literature to finance the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the newspaper reported. STURGIS, Mich. -- A twin-engine airplane crashed, and the pilot and two passengers escaped with minor injuries. One of the engines failed shortly after the Cessna 414 took off from Sturgis Airport on Sunday, the Michigan State Police reported from the White Pigeon post. The pilot, 62-year-old Lawrence Werchky of Sturgis, notified authorities and said he was going to attempt a landing at the airport. Instead, the plane went down in a field a mile away, state police Sgt. Michael Krajniak said. Werchky and his two passengers were treated at Sturgis Hospital for "bumps and bruises," Krajniak said.
