The R’s should give him everything he wants. Last election, one could argue that the issues were blurred by racism, etc., but this election it was clear. All those east coast moderates voted him in. They are the ones with the most to lose. I am in a red state bordered by numerous other red states and am buffered by the effects of these policies for years. I voted for them, not me. I voted for country. The people I voted for voted for him.
If the R’s resist on anything, the Admin and MSM will peg the downfall of America on them. They need to get out of the way and let the people’s will prevail. Yes, I know this is not the for country argument, but ya know.....

Also, a minor point that our geniuses don't bring up is that it is a recession caused primarily by corrected house prices which led to mortgage meltdown which lead to financial crisis. Which and who's policies lead to that? Yet our side let's them call it the Bush policy recession. Haven't heard the housing thing brought up once in rebuttal. Only, yeah we spent too much and we won't do that next time. Really makes ms wonder.

The country needs to put real conservatives in this fall. He won't be able to do the things he wants and especially won't be able to do the things we don't want him to do.
His statement should be used as a campaign tool for anyone running. I think it may scare the hell out of any voter that feels a little scared by what he has done and not done but is susceptible to beautiful speeches and white guilt etc. His arrogance seems to be the one thing that people notice and are getting tired of real quick. Some of the issues he is trying to ignore aren't going away, even with the assist if the MSM. He will only get more arrogant and defensive as this summer moves on, and people will hate him for it. This is the only thing that will stop him, as it seems most are clueless to the real issues.

This grandstanding is sickening. If you substitute Fannie and Freddie every time one of them says big wall street firm and substitute politician every time they say executives of these big Wall Street firms, you would be amazed at how well it fits.
Any proposed Financial Reform that leaves out Fannie and Freddie and politicians that greased the skids and former politicians that reaped huge personal financial fortunes (salaries and bonuses at Fannie and Freddie) on the backs of taxpayers, is disingenuous at best.
Is the taxpayer on the hook for hundreds of billions for Fannie and Freddie? - Yes
Who was in charge of the mortgage banks? Who made their policies? Who appointed their executives? Who reaped benefits?
Begin to address these, and we’ll talk. Until then, shut up and turn the mirror around.

Don’t think you were. Not for a minute. I know we are on the same team: True Individual Liberty.
Those that are spending their time this morning venting and threatening are not doing much to affect any change, and the last decade proves that without a change, we’re screwed. Repubs and/or Dems in charge, doesn’t matter.
People like us need to try define the debate to bring some unity of principle.
That is why I even replied to you. Not that all of those venting aren’t exactly right, but those with thoughts of what to do now are the one’s I am interested in. And, in my opinion, the what to do now goes way beyond just flopping the power over to the same old Repubs that let us down every time. No more McCainism, Grahamism, Trent Lottism, etc.
I refuse to get disabled by the, we have work within the confines of the current set up (party) to stand a chance. Liberty doesn’t stand a chance in the current set up.
We have to win the hearts and minds of the retarded, just as they did this last election (2008). It feels lonely out here not really being part of any group, just the group of producers in this country who are taken for granted every day.
If they could go up against the Clinton machine and win, this can give us a reason to have faith that someone can go up against the Rhino machine and win. They were able to turn a mostly moderate and inert dem party into a super liberal party in one or two cycles. Why can’t we turn a moderately liberal GOP into super conservative party in one or two cycles?
Thanks for the conversation. We all need to have more like this.
    Respectfully,

Agreed again. I guess I am just getting more specific on what we need to insist on when GOP does get some power back. I was sooooo disappointed last time last time they got it after Clinton gave them the opportunity. They turned into Dems when they didn’t even need to.

Hard to find though. I agree, probably not all, but most, and it certainly doesn’t seem to be enough to protect us. Somehow, we need to find a way to stop playing their (politician’s) game and make them play our game.
Maybe a real constitutional based wing of the GOP can emerge or a third party will have to emerge. It will have to swift considering the risks of splitting the vote for too long. I think this is what Sarah Palin is up to. She is not GOP, and that will begin to show over the next year or so. We can only hope she can do it fast enough. We have to be willing to support whoever will stand up for conservative principals. Moderates have no place, especially these days.

Oh, by the way. Republicans don’t care about any of these real issues. They just care about being perceived as putting up a good enough fight in order to get reelected so they can do the stealing that they do.

Finally. This is the kind of point that has to be made to stop this from getting anywhere real. The facts.
We all fell for the same old trick of focusing on a couple of real but not THE REAL points of this debate. The “conversations” leading up to this debate were, in my opinion, not the points that REALLY matter. Sure federally funded abortion is important and so is the illegal immigrant issue, but they used these to deflect away from the real issues.
Here are the real issues and how to wake up average Bob from blindly saying he wants “health care reform”:
    Lay out the facts:

    1. They say they are doing this to help all of those people who can’t afford health care. Tell those people who are currently paying nothing how much of their budget they will now have to fork over for it. Many of the folks I know that are for it, don’t carry any health insurance on the their families, none=$0 of current budget. They do have all the fun things in life, motorcycles, vacations, drugs, eat out etc. How much will they now HAVE to pay for mandated health care or go to jail or have it put in their taxes next year. There goes their cherished Earned Income Credit. Trust me, they think health care reform is free health care. Pointing this out clearly will lose most of that support immediately.

    2. So, if everybody is having a hard time paying for the houses they shouldn’t have bought, but we have to find a way to keep them in them and paying for them or the bottom will fall out of the housing market leading to an economic meltdown, how can you throw another 15K into their budgets and avert the meltdown?

    3. Show the responsible who are insured how much their coverage will cost after this goes into effect. Same rates for men and women, same for preexisting conditions, no limits on coverage etc. If you’re currently paying $400-$800 / month, you will now be paying $THIS ($1500 / m?). That will wake up these people. Individuals do not have pricing power or taxing authority. They will have to find the money in a relatively fixed income situation. By the way, getting another job or employing a nonworking spouse isn’t so easy these days (10 % UE +). Ask them where they are going to come up with the money. Those on employer plans are not immune either. They have seen the companies paying less and less over the last bunch of years, so they know the premium will be passed to them. Wake these people up, too.

If someone can put these numbers out there in a simple 100 word summary in simple English, maybe people will understand what they are “supporting”.
