The GOP’s horrible California nightmare

Republicans are having a bad day. But it’s going to get a lot worse when they look beyond the White House and U.S. Senate and fully absorb what just happened in California. The future of American politics — a majority-minority coalition handing complete political power over all branches of government to Democrats — is written here for anyone to see, in big, bold, rainbow colored letters.

California, reports the San Francisco Chronicle, may have delivered the most unexpected news in a night full of surprises:

California Democrats appear to have picked up a supermajority in both houses of the state Legislature Tuesday night, a surprise outcome that gives the party the ability to unilaterally raise taxes and leaves Republicans essentially irrelevant in Sacramento.

If preliminary results hold, 2012 will mark the first time in 80 years that either political party in California has enjoyed super-majority control. Republicans everywhere should be paying close attention. Because the demographic trends that led to Obama’s reelection — the increasing diversity of the electorate, the relative liberalism of the youth vote, the declining influence of old white males — made their national debut in California in the late 80s and early 90s. The rest of the nation is just catching up.

America has passed the tipping point toward decline and fall. It is over but for the actual suffering. I hate to post an article from the evil "Salon" but when you are right you are right. The California outcome from the California demographics is just a hint of things to come nation wide.

We are doomed.

It was a good run. Pray and God Bless. We could not keep the Republic we were given. I am proud that the USA lasted longer than most.

You will not recognize this nation in 4 years.

A big “thank you” from Obama to the GOP for shoving another RINO down our throats to lose to him. Another big “thank you” from Obama to all Conservatives who sat home and did not vote, or who voted 3rd party. Obama could not have won it without you.

I think you overestimate the numbers of conservatives that stayed home or voted third party. For instance, I don’t personally know of a single one.

America will remain a two party system, the Democrats and China.

California has just become a one-party state, not unlike its neighbor to the south, Mexico. Repubs in their supreme wimpiness have handed the state over.

The nation yesterday did the same thing, the evidence just isn’t as visible yet as it is in CA.

From here on, the Repubs are irrelevant. They gave it all away trying to be nice guys and buying into the idea of being “liberal-lite”......

As in a previous post - bye-bye USA......

When the US collapses we will balkanize into what is (rather simplisticly) red and blue America. I think it would be better to start the process early to keep the Californian parasites from flooding into Texas.

America has not had a truly representative government in over a hundred years. “If voting would make a difference, the wouldn’t let us do it.”

I disagree with this, in the sense that CA will show where liberal policies go faster than any other state. But whether anyone pays attention, that’s another story.

Funny how the article was presented.

Salon presented this as bad for the GOP. Sort of vindictive. Sorry Salon, but the GOP was essentially dead in California to begin with. They functioned as a check for excessive spending and taxation.

No, Salon. This is bad for California. The GOP didn’t have the ability to change policy in California, just to keep the craziness to a minimum.

Salon is acting like a rebellious teenager who just ran away from home. It feels good at first, lashing out at those who kept you in line. Free to do as you want.
Then the money runs out.

This isn’t a nightmare for the gop. California was lost years ago. This is going to be a nightmare for residents of California. There is NO WAY a democratic controlled government, super majority or not, is going to deliver fiscal sanity and prosperous times for that state. Quite the opposite. Democrat ideas and legislation has never worked in the past, present, and still won’t work for the future.

The Union is dead, and now it's time to salvage whatever we can of a nation that our founding fathers envisioned. We have to take the revolutionary action that's needed to even have a chance at saving anything. Like-minded Conservative states need to start working together for closer ties in preparation of surviving as independent nations, or building a new union based on our current disregarded Constitution. Let the liberal states destroy themselves, but don't let those who destroy them seek refuge in any new union or they will destroy it just the same.

It's time for states that still have common sense leaders to rid themselves of the enormous and unconstitutional federal government. We are collapsing regardless, but lets do it on our own terms instead of waiting for it to catch many individuals and states unprepared even though everyone can see it coming.

We can't keep lying to ourselves and thinking we will be able to solve our problems in the broken system we have. We also can't survive Obama for another term, and we will end up worse off if we just sat idly by as we collapse.
