  • Letters to the Editor: I'm a psychiatrist. Lawyers shouldn't be assessing Biden's cognitive ability

    LA Times ^ | February 12, 2024 | Sidney Weissman, M.D., Highland Park, Ill.
Justice Department special counsel Robert Hur has training in neither psychiatry nor neurology, yet he included an assessment of President Biden's cognitive functioning in his report declining to bring charges for mishandling classified information. Memory assessment is a complex task and cannot be undertaken over five hours in interviews with attorneys.
  • Lawsuit claiming HP all-in-one printers are defective can proceed

A federal judge has rejected HP's (HPQ.N) bid to dismiss a lawsuit claiming that it intentionally designed its all-in-one printers to be unable to scan or fax when they are low on ink, as a means to increase profit by boosting ink sales. Customers in the proposed class action said HP concealed how its printers enter an "error state" when low on ink, disabling scanning and faxing functions that do not require ink, and forcing them to buy unnecessary, high-margin ink cartridges.

A series of planned commands sent to NASA’s Voyager 2 spacecraft July 21 inadvertently caused the antenna to point 2 degrees away from Earth. As a result, Voyager 2 is currently unable to receive commands or transmit data back to Earth.... Voyager 2 is programmed to reset its orientation multiple times each year to keep its antenna pointing at Earth; the next reset will occur on Oct. 15, which should enable communication to resume.
  • NBC's Todd Cries: GOP Hasn't Confirmed A Dem SCOTUS Nominee Since Cleveland!

NBC’s Chuck Todd dedicated the entire hour of Meet the Press on Sunday to bemoaning how the Supreme Court has turned into a partisan body.... After whining about how the Supreme Court has turned more conservative and partisan, Todd informed his audience of a “stunning fact.” This so-called fact was that “the last time a Republican-controlled United States Senate confirmed a Democratic President's Supreme Court nominee: Grover Cleveland administration nearly 130 years ago.”In reality, there have been 28 appointees by Democratic Presidents since Cleveland had his last nominee confirmed in 1895, and since then all but one have been appointed...

If you asked me what I think the most likely outcome tomorrow, I’d say the following: The Democrats win in every race, 99% to 1%. Military vehicles fill the streets of the capitals of red states. Fox News gets another “facelift” as it did on Election Night 2020. Tucker Carlson disappears into some CIA “black site,” and gets replaced without explanation by a sneering Chris Wallace. The Fox news anchor blondes give way to stodgy men in brown paramilitary uniforms, who report the results in Romanian. But call me a sunny optimist.... Let’s say we capture both the House and...

In less than one month, if Proposal 3 passes, children will have a right under the Michigan constitution to walk into one of Planned Parenthood’s 12 so-called “gender affirming” facilities in the state and, without parental knowledge or consent, obtain puberty blockers. And with Planned Parenthood of Michigan promising “gender affirming” care “via telehealth in the coming months,” Michiganders’ kids won’t even need to leave their house to obtain these sterilizing drugs. Passage of Prop 3 will also give boys a constitutional right to be castrated and girls the right under Michigan’s constitution to be sterilized by way of a...

The video, apparently narrated by the user @Brick_Suit on Twitter, reveals the incredible backstory of Biden’s bike wreck. “By now you may have seen this clip of Joe Biden falling off of his bicycle, rather unceremoniously,” the narrator says. “And if you guess that the reason was because a small child was in the crowd, you’d be right.” ... “And here you can see a ponytail.” “So we know he’s talking to a small girl and actually photos surfaced afterwards showing the two of them together"

In responding to the resulting shrieks (similar to the shrieks following the 2016 presidential election) from leftists and their enemedia, Tucker Carlson offered this: "Here's a very clear, simple and unerring test: Who are the tyrants? They're anyone who is bothered by the idea that other people might get to talk. That's an unfailing test."

A Manor Independent School District teacher was arrested Tuesday after the district said they [sic] were seen hitting a student “several times.”... The district said a student was trying to enter the building through a doorway, when a teacher stopped the student from coming in. The teacher tried to tell the student to use another door, but the student refused and pushed past the teacher. That’s when the teacher “was then observed striking the scholar several times,” the district said.

More police officers have been killed in the line of duty under President Biden's leadership [sic] than in prior years since 1995, and a law enforcement nonprofit wants the president to start speaking up. In 2021, the FBI counted 73 officers intentionally killed in the line of duty. That's a nearly 59% increase compared to the 46 intentionally killed in 2020.

With uncharacteristic restraint, Tucker Carlson referred to Mark Milley as a "national disgrace." In his 12.5 min video, Tucker Carlson ripped into the dishonest, dishonorable, and incompetent conduct of Mark Milley, Ken McKenzie, and Lloyd Austin, and also what the Department of Defense is doing to Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller.Carlson did admit it is likely that Austin, Milley and McKenzie will not receive justice for their wicked actions, and will likely be rewarded by the military-industrial complex for what they did.

During an interview Tuesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci called the Bill of Rights in our Constitution a "public health crisis." "This Bill of rights is a disaster for public health," Fauci said. "People can go where they like, say what they like, and gather to worship how they like. The Constitution doesn't even say anything about a virus. It's very dangerous, very anti-science. The pandemic was a good testing ground for us to figure out how to handle public health crises such as this contagious document. So now we know how to take down something deadly and viral like the Constitution."...

In case you missed it, The Federalist Senior Editor and FOXNews contributor Mollie Hemingway summed up yesterday's inauguration: "Yesterday was horrible to watch how the media were losing all sense of themselves. The tongue baths that they gave Joe Biden, it was just embarrassing to watch. It was like watching a Jeffrey Toobin Zoom call or something."

That’s the title of The Spectator Oct. 20th article, which stated in part: Jeffrey Toobin is a man much wronged. On Monday, the New Yorker writer was suspended by the magazine for which he’s written for two decades, and took a leave of absence from CNN, where’s he served as a legal affairs analyst since 2002. What possible sin could he have committed that forced these pillars of the media establishment to sideline a bonafide star with the presidential election less than two weeks away and Team Joe Biden needing every hand on deck? Toobin masturbated during a Zoom video...
  • Democratic National Convention Puts Elizabeth Warren On Native American Panel [No, it's not a Babylon Bee headline!]

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) featured Elizabeth Warren on its Native American panel Tuesday on the second day of its virtual convention... The Cherokee Nation, long offended by Warren’s ancestral claim to tribal ancestry, demanded Warren apologize in the aftermath of the test results and rescind her false assertions of blood association with the Native group. Warren has since apologized several times and said she no longer identifies as an American Indian. Yet still the DNC put her on its Native American panel today.

That's right: The U.S. Space Force has horses. No, they're not going onto orbit—or attacking an enemy spaceship—but the actual explanation for why the Space Force has them is almost as absurd. Are you ready? They used to be the Air Force's horses.... "We are able to go through creeks and water with the horses, high hills that we wouldn't be able to get through with off-road vehicles," U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Michael Terrazas explained in a 2019 profile of the program. Yes, yes. If only the Air Force had the means of getting to places that are difficult...
  • Austin restaurants can no longer throw away food

    KXAN-TV, Austin, TX ^ | October 2, 2018 (updated) | Kate Winkle
Starting Monday, Austin restaurants and food businesses have to come up with alternatives to tossing extra food in the trash. The city hopes businesses donate the extra food to those in need, but they could also give it to local farms or compost it. It's part of the Universal Recycling Ordinance, which the city hopes will help reach its Zero Waste by 2040 goal.
