A monkey was briefly “loose” on a Las Vegas-bound Frontier flight from Ohio at one point late Tuesday, according to McCarran International Airport officials. Melissa Nunnery, a spokeswoman with the airport, couldn’t clarify what “loose” meant, but said a Frontier staffer reported to McCarran “that the monkey was loose, or got loose” briefly during the flight. It’s unclear what type of monkey it was, but Nunnery said the monkey was an emotional support animal, adding that “the passenger had all the proper paperwork to have the monkey on the plane with him.”

Delta Air Lines Inc. has grounded all flights worldwide as a computer glitch is leaving passengers unable to check in. The second-biggest U.S. airline DAL, -1.78% said via Twitter that “all flights are grounded due to a system outage,” prompting long delays at airports around the world.

A passenger plane has declared a mid-air emergency and seemingly disappeared from radar, according to reports. The Air Algerie Boeing 737-600 took off from Algiers this afternoon on a flight to Marseille but let out an emergency call shortly after take-off. Flight radar showed the plane turn around and head back towards the point where it took-off but before arriving, the jet disappeared from radar.

DUBAI -- An Emirates flight from India with 300 people on board, including 6 Americans, crash landed at Dubai's main airport on Wednesday, sending black smoke billowing into the air and halting all traffic at the Middle East's busiest airport. Authorities said all passengers were evacuated safely. Dubai-based Emirates said the accident happened around 12:45 p.m. local time as Flight EK521 was arriving from the southern Indian city of Thiruvananthapuram.

An American Airlines pilot tackled an intoxicated man to the ground after he tried to force his way off a taxiing plane and attacked a flight attendant. In footage posted online, the pilot is heard yelling 'you don't put your hands on my flight attendant!' as he forced the belligerent passenger to the floor after the plane landed and came to a stop in Charlotte, North Carolina. Michael Kerr, 25, from Kentucky, was banned from flying after appearing in court on charges of being intoxicated and disruptive, assault on a female and communicating threats, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.

On July 27, 1949, the world quite abruptly became a very small place. The new scale, which drew together cities and coastlines that had for millennia existed on basically separate planets, came courtesy of the de Havilland Comet, the first commercial jet aircraft to enter production. With its pressurized cabin, it could travel as high as 42,000 feet and, courtesy of four turbojet engines offering 22,000 Newtons of thrust each, it cruised at 460 miles per hour. This massive flying boat is the world's largest warbird, and an exceptionally rare sight. It was delivered to the US Navy in 1946 and later converted for civilian use as a fire fighting aircraft. The surveillance Boeing OC-135B aircraft was flying a mission over Siberia as allowed under the Treaty on Open Skies when it reported a problem with its landing gear.
