Delta Airlines has announced that they have grounded all flights due to system outage.
More to follow.
LUV’s revenge?
RT had this 4 hours ago. Nothing on any of the western news sources. Odd
Non of the Delta flights coming here are delayed?
Fox has it now.
Sounds like they’re trying to compete with Southwest for the most incompetent IT staff. But heck, that’s where the outsourcing money is!
They posted an announcement on their website: http://news.delta.com/outage-affects-departing-flights-morning
I bet Hitlery and her private jet can still clear TSA. Of course the media isn’t allowed to show that, right?
The folks in Mumbai are working on the fix.
Good thing that we are not in an economic war with anyone.
Hmmm ... why did the Muzzies choose to attack weak economic points during 9/11, NYC and the airlines?
Nah, probably my brain trying to connect dots that aren't there.
I'll wait on the Justice Dept to give us an answer.
The fact that two major airlines have system problems so close in time should raise concern. Airline operations are constantly being probed and hacked looking for vulnerabilities.
Oh that is right, there are still a bunch of stupid people out there.
I had to go to Wyoming from S. Texas, drove..... Great trip
I am having to go to Oshkosh Wisconsin.... Going to drive and expect another great trip.
System outage = Muslims.
Or Russians.....
So they have been grounded well over 5 hours? That is not an IT problem!
Some of us must travel for business. Not too happy about it - although if I die on company business my wife and daughter are set for life....
This essay describes Delta’s ID setup for central operations.
It says that Delta is still using TPF on IBM mainframes. TPF is a custom bare metal OS written by the airlines in 1979. It is old as heck, but it is supposed to be quite reliable and resilient (which might be why they’ve been using it for 37 years now).

One of the worst customers I’ve ever had to deal with. I was an account manager for Delta. I had tons of computer gear at their Atlanta data center. A nightmare.
