A man who was shot this morning while he was trying to rob a Waffle House in North Charleston has died from his injuries, authorities said. The robber was shot by a customer, who thwarted the early-morning robbery attempt, police said. “He saved us, that’s what he did,” a Waffle House employee told The Post and Courier. A Gresham man shot and killed one of four intruders who had entered his mobile home Saturday and began stabbing him with a knife. The 34-year-old resident fought back by grabbing a pistol and shooting two of his attackers, Gresham police say. Police arrived to find one of the suspected intruders, a 25-year-old man, dead at the scene from a gun injury. The resident also shot a 16-year-old suspect, who was brought to a local hospital and Sunday morning was still being treated there.

Florida Panhandle authorities have arrested two men they say were responsible for the shooting and wounding of a wildlife officer. The Bay County Sheriff's Office reported in a news release that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer was on his boat Friday afternoon when he was shot.

A 62-year-old man with a gun in each hand fired at four people – including a 1-year-old boy – before a civilian with a concealed carry permit returned fire and wounded the shooter, cops told FOX19. A convenience store clerk fought back during a robbery, shooting two thieves Monday. Store clerk Dien Tu says he was surprised but prepared when he saw a masked man pistol-whipping his co-worker. The victim of a harrowing gunpoint robbery in Mississippi on Saturday grabbed a gun out of his truck and opened fire, killing one robber and sending the other fleeing. Jackson Police said the victim turned the tables on a pair of robbers after he was robbed of his wallet and forced to drive to an ATM to get money, Mississippi News Now reported.

MILWAUKEE — Shortly before sunrise, police said a stolen van smashed through the doors of the Bouchard’s Sporting Goods store near North Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive. The burglars were unaware the owner was sleeping inside. Police said he greeted them with gunfire. A short time after the shooting, three guys showed up at the emergency room at Columbia St. Mary's. A 23-year-old man was able to fend off two intruders in his family’s home Tuesday morning, killing one and wounding the other, according to a police report released Wednesday. Former CNN Headline News anchor Lynne Russell and her husband, former CNN correspondent Chuck De Caro faced off against a robber at an Albuquerque, N.M. motel. De Caro shot and killed the thief. De Caro himself was reportedly shot three times by the robber but is expected to survive. Russell was not hurt.
