What is this thing? It’s a homemade, custom sized, plywood lower receiver for an AR-15. No permits, no licenses, no serial numbers. No casting, no machining. Not even very much metal. Just precise measurements, very careful assembly, and lots of sanding. And some epoxy. Oh, and quality hardwood furniture grade plywood. And it’s going to work. As a pistol. Follow the progress over at Summer Patriot / Winter Soldier ... John Jay is also hard at work on another wildcat cartridge, this time a .375 shorty.

An Alabama congressional candidate uses a .40 Glock pistol, a .270 Cooper rifle and an AR-15 to destroy a copy of the Obamacare bill in a new video released by his campaign. The message in candidate Will Brooke’s video, shared first with The Daily Caller on Wednesday, is clear: Republicans have been successful in taking shots at Obamacare, but it’s going to take “more extreme measures” to get rid of it. As gun sales skyrocket across the country, an Oceanside shop that let’s you build your own guns says its business is booming too. Ares Armor offers gun enthusiasts a novel way to exercise their 2nd Amendment right to bear arms. “Under the Gun Control Act of 1968, an individual can make a weapon for personal use, but not for sale or distribution,” said Ares Armor owner Dimitrios Karras. It’s legal and his business is through the roof. “We are flooded with orders right now,” he said. Ares Armor allows customers to buy all the parts needed to build a weapon....

The owner of a California store that sells gun parts to build rifles from scratch is refusing to turn over his customer list to federal officials. Dimitrios Karras, owner of Ares Armor in Oceanside, told Fox5SanDiego.com that Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents are investigating his business because it sells AR-15 lower receivers, which contain the gun’s operating parts. The company sold thousands of 80 percent receivers in with colors showing where the customer can drill, making it easier and cheaper to build. The ATF said the sales are illegal and demanded the company turn over the products...

Gun store owner refuses to give feds customer list OCEANSIDE, Calif. – The owner of an Oceanside store that sells various gun parts to build a rifle from scratch refused to turn over his customer list to federal agents. Dimitrios Karras, owner of Ares Armor, said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents were investigating their business, not for what they sell, but for the people who purchase their products. Karras said the ATF threatened to shutter their business if they didn’t hand over the names of 5,000 customers who have purchased an 80 percent lower receiver (the...

By NRA-ILA The number of firearms manufactured in the U.S. for sale to American customers hit an all-time high in 2012, according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (BATFE) new Firearms Manufacturers and Export Report. American firearm manufacturers produced roughly 8.3 million firearms for sale in the U.S., a new record, up 33 percent from the 6.2 million produced for American customers in 2011. The report shows not only that Americans valued firearms in 2012 more than ever before, but also that they particularly valued the kinds of firearms that gun control supporters have tried the hardest...

Praise the Lord—and pass the ammunition! An upstate pastor is planning to give away an unholy raffle prize at an upcoming service: an AR-15 assault rifle. “We’re honoring gun owners and hunters,” the Rev. John Koletas, pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Troy, told the Daily News. “And we’re being a blessing and a help to people who have been attacked, viciously attacked, by socialists and anti-Christian people—the politicians and the media.” […] “I think it’s sending the wrong message entirely,” said the Rev. Willie Bacote, a pastor of Missing Link AME Zion Church in Troy and a prominent anti-gun...

The TacCon 3MR trigger is a drop in system that allows the user to fire their AR15 rifle more quickly that a standard trigger allows for. The TacCon 3MR requires no modification to your rifle and the result is a very streamline and integrated system. It's an alternative to the popular bumpfire stocks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zCMZSLZwBo

Simple design tweaks are allowing gun makers to get around restrictions New York put in place following the 2012 school shootings in Connecticut, prompting some critics to say the laws were mere window dressing. New York lawmakers passed the SAFE Act last year, and announced with fanfare that it effectively banned the sale of “assault weapons.” But AR-15s, the most popular type of guns often referred to as assault weapons, are sold in Empire State gun shops, freely and legally. The gun is being marketed by Stag Arms as a "New York-compliant AR-15," and features a slightly modified stock and...

Prototypes for the newly designed AR-15 are hitting gun shops across New York, as gun shops and machinists have designed a rifle that complies with the anti-gun law. At least one gun shop has received a letter from state police saying that the new AR-15 style rifles should be legal in the state as long as they don’t have some of the features that the law prohibits. The new gun law bans all kinds of semi-automatic rifles that have been labeled with the “assault” term even though these are very common rifles and are no more powerful than the average...

Very interesting series of photos from the security camera make for a choppy video.   What is clear is that the robber has virtually no tactical sense, no backup, little situational awareness, and focuses on the money. If anyone there had a firearm and felt threatened, this guy would have been done.   Notice that in the last two or three images, he has his hand off the pistol grip, muzzle pointed away from anyone, and eyes focused on the money.  The video is grainy enough that I cannot be sure if what he is holding is a real AR-15 type...

So if someone theoretically has an 80% lower(for personal ownership/use only) and could find a machinist to finish the 20%, is the machinist or owner of the lower in violation of any federal goobermint laws? If not, is there a place to find and print chapter and verse as proof of this? If the the theoretical owner were to press the "start" button on a programmed CNC machine, would the theoretical owner then be considered the maker/manufacturer?

Gov. Jerry Brown has vetoed a bill that would have banned future sales of most semi-automatic rifles that accept detachable magazines, part of a firearms package approved by state lawmakers in response to mass shootings in other states. The governor announced signing other gun-related legislation on Friday but rejected the centerpiece bill, which would have imposed the nation’s toughest restrictions on gun ownership.

My, don't they look proud. But after shooting this rare albino moose near Belle Cote in Nova Scotia last week — and posting the pics to social media — the trio has sparked considerable outrage, particularly among the region's Mi'kmaq indigenous community. These guys breached a kind of unwritten code of conduct that has also upset many in the hunting community.
