Andrew Johnson, writing at The Corner, provides the video of Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke’s interview on Fox News, during which he expresses his displeasure with Eric Holder’s remarks in Ferguson. Attorney general Eric Holder and Missouri Democratic leaders need to apologize to the law-enforcement community for impugning officers’ motives in light of the unrest in Ferguson, Mo., according to one prominent county sheriff. Milwaukee County sheriff David Clarke, who gained notoriety last year for encouraging gun ownership within his Wisconsin community, said Holder, Governor Jay Nixon, and Senator Claire McCaskill made the situation in Ferguson worse with their “irresponsible,...

Curtis last summer attended a Mayors Against Illegal Guns rally, which aimed to pressure then-Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) to support expanded background checks. Curtis's brother killed himself playing Russian roulette when he was 16. "If Montana has 2.5 times the suicide rate of states with comprehensive background checks, maybe we should try that out,” she told the Montana Standard at the time. A year later, the Montana Standard wrote an article mentioning that newly christened candidate Curtis had attended the rally. She told them, “I haven’t said anything that average Montanans wouldn’t agree with. I have simply stated that guns...
  • Carrying A Defensive Handgun In Urban Environments

A violent crime can occur anywhere at any given moment. However, it should not be a surprise to anyone that violent crime occurs more often in urban environments than in suburban or rural communities. A person venturing into a well-populated city for business or recreation would be well advised to conduct some pre-trip planning to ensure a safe stay. Accordingly, persons who are concerned about big city crime may wish to legally carry their firearms for personal protection during their visit. Appropriate arrangements should be made to ensure a hassle-free and safe experience.
  • Gun-grabber Bloomberg’s epic fail in Milwaukee

Billionaire Michael R. Bloomberg could learn a thing or two from the biblical story about an Israelite soldier named David, who went up against Goliath, a giant of a man and a powerful foe. Using just a sling and a stone, David brought Goliath down to his knees and destroyed him. Mr. Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York, made a huge political miscalculation when he sauntered into my territory of Milwaukee County, Wis. — a solid-blue county that overwhelmingly votes Democrat — expecting an easy signature win for his failing crusade to disarm law-abiding Americans.

Second Amendment: An African-American single mom on her way to a birthday party for one of her kids faces 10 years in prison for straying into the Garden State carrying a firearm in her purse licensed in Pennsylvania. Shaneen Allen is less well-known than Michael Brown, the man shot by police in Ferguson, Mo., and it's doubtful Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton will pay her a visit anytime soon. They're busy elsewhere. A mother exercising her Second Amendment right not only to keep but to bear arms to protect her family is of little interest to them. Allen is a...

Incompetence and evil sometimes prevail. Even in America. We can’t control stupid and evil. We can buy firearms and learn how to safely use them in order to protect ourselves, our property, and our families. Stupid and evil will tear apart a society whenever given the chance. You have an obligation to prepare yourself.

SADDLE BROOK, NJ –Robert Lintner, 65, did not have a good day. It all began when his wife stabbed him in the neck during an argument in the morning. Things took a turn for the worse when police, summoned to Mr. Litner’s home, discovered the man’s firearm and ammunition collection. Mr. Litner owned almost 200 guns in five vaults, had tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition in the home, and around 300 pounds of black powder. Because he did not consent to the search, cops used a jaws-of-life from the local fire department to open the safes, which are...
  • Judge Says Second Amendment Doesn't Protect AR-15s

Gun Control: A federal judge rules that the AR-15 and similar weapons commonly used in self-defense "fall outside Second Amendment protection as dangerous and unusual arms," and we have no right to keep or bear them. Nobody looted the gun shop and tattoo parlor that share a storefront in a strip mall less than 10 minutes from Ferguson, Mo., where riots followed the police shooting of Michael Brown. According to the local Riverfront Times, the owners of County Guns and Tattoo Studio arrived with friends to protect their businesses. One owner carried a rifle and pistol and wore a vest,...

There is something of Captain Ahab about Michael Bloomberg these days — the former mayor of New York having adopted the profile of a neurotic and fevered old man whose long and checkered career has not yet managed to sate him, and whose ambition will be truly realized only when, finally, he captures his whale and avenges his bruised ego. Alas, yesterday evening, in Milwaukee, Wis., satisfaction eluded him once again, that Milwaukee County’s Sheriff David Clarke — an outspoken apostle of the right to keep and bear arms, and opponent of all that Bloomberg holds dear — winning his...

California’s environmental movement has been pushing for the use of eco-friendly ammunition for years, and they finally got it with a state law mandating a phase-out of lead shot. The goal is to reduce the amount of lead in the environment — if people are going to be using guns in a state where hunting is a widespread and popular activity, they should be doing so with the environment in mind (though many of course argue that seeing an overall drop in hunting in the long term in favor of more animal-friendly recreation and food sources would be a better...

According to CBS St. Louis, "Gun sales are up across St. Louis." In fact, they have "quadrupled" at some area gun stores. Buyers are not simply the stereotypical white, male gun store customers. Instead, gun store owner Steve King described many of those pouring into his store--Metro Shooting--as "females, single mothers ... black people, white people ... [and] Asians."

The decision is Vesely v. Armslist, LLC (7th Cir. Aug. 12, 2014). Here’s the Brady Campaign’s theory: On April 13, 2011, Jitka Vesel, a 36-year-old immigrant from the Czech Republic was shot and killed by Demetry Smirnov, a Russian immigrant residing in Canada who had met Jitka online a few years earlier. Smirnov stalked her to her workplace parking lot where he shot her 11-12 times with a .40-caliber handgun…. The complaint alleges that [Smirnov] illegally purchased from a private seller whom he located through armslist.com, an online gun auction site owned by defendant Armslist, LLC. The complaint alleges that...

Though guns are not the most common method by which people attempt suicide, they are the most lethal. About 85 percent of suicide attempts with a firearm end in death. (Drug overdose, the most widely used method in suicide attempts, is fatal in less than 3 percent of cases.) Moreover, guns are an irreversible solution to what is often a passing crisis. Suicidal individuals who take pills or inhale car exhaust or use razors have time to reconsider their actions or summon help. With a firearm, once the trigger is pulled, there’s no turning back.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Sentinel Journal has Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke (D) defeating challenger Milwaukee police lieutenant Chris Moews by nearly 5 percent. According to the Sentinel, Clarke garnered 56.8 percent of the vote to Moews' 52.1. This percentage is slightly less than that with which Clarke won in 2000 -- when he beat Moews by six points -- but the August 12 victory comes after Michael Bloomberg dumped $150,000 into the race against Clarke.

In what looks to be a terrible ruling for Maryland gun owners a federal judge has essentially ruled that guns that were regulated by the state of Maryland last year, including AR-15 and AK style rifles (as well as other magazine fed, semi-auto rifles with certain features), “fall outside Second Amendment protection as dangerous and unusual arms,” according to a 47 page opinion by U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake. The case in question is Kolbe et al v. During Sunday's pre-recorded edition of "Connected to Chicago," Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said law-abiding gun owners who lobby elected officials through organizations like the NRA and the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) are corrupt and endanger public safety. "If there was special interests affecting police work, I believe that would be called corruption. So, if it has do with donating money versus a popular vote, I think we have a bigger problem in this country and somebody's gotta wake up to that," he said. "Well, how is it that they're controlling politicians. How are they controlling elected officials? It's not...
