With 100 percent of precincts reporting, the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Sentinel Journal has Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke (D) defeating challenger Milwaukee police lieutenant Chris Moews by nearly 5 percent.

According to the Sentinel, Clarke garnered 56.8 percent of the vote to Moews' 52.1.

This percentage is slightly less than that with which Clarke won in 2000 -- when he beat Moews by six points -- but the August 12 victory comes after Michael Bloomberg dumped $150,000 into the race against Clarke.

Hmmmm. 108.9% total. Is there something about vote counting in Milwaukee? Probably just a typo but if so and the 5 in the losers column should be a 4 that would be a total of 98.9%. Maybe some 3rd party got a couple of votes? In any case, glad to see that nannie bloomers wasted some money. Sadly, he has plenty more.

It seems to be a typo. Clarke won 52% according to the JS website. Thre are still a pile of absentee ballots to be counted in Milwaukee, but barring a unbelievable statistical improbability, it shouldn't make any difference.

BTW, I've read that Clarke's margin was "razor thin". What, exactly, did the media call it when Obummer won with 51% in 2012? I don't remember it being referred to as a "razor thin" margin.

Somebody should remind Bloomberg of that Einstein quote: "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

Bloomberg and allied anti-gun crazies spent $625,000.00 to try to unseat Democrat Sheriff David Clarke - blanketing attack ads around the clock.

From Fox News: Clarke, who is running as a Democrat but regularly aligns himself with conservative Republicans, spoke at the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting in April. The NRA, who calls Clarke a “rising national star,” has come to Clarke’s defense, soliciting donations from its members on his behalf and buying online ads for his re-election bid.

“Make no mistake: Sheriff Clarke is fighting the reelection battle of his life right now because he dared to stand on principle by standing up for you, me and the NRA,” Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action, said.

“Am I big on a person’s right to be able to defend themselves? Yes. You know why? Because it’s a natural right,” Clarke recently told Wisconsin News Radio 620 WTMJ.

I’m glad the anti-gun crazies are blowing their wads of cash - but damn - that’s a lot of cash to throw into a Sheriff’s race.

"56.8 percent of the vote to Moews' 52.1. "

Common Core math?

108% is perfectly normal for Chicago.

Voter IDs? We don’t need no stinkin’ IDs.

It might not be a typo as this is Milwaukee. I think it was in 2000 that the city had something like 110% turnout. The local DA just thought it was an interesting anomaly.

A couple of weeks ago I told one of the big lefties at work that I had made a record sized campaign contribution, 4 times my normal amount and it was to a democrat. He was all happy until I told him which democrat!

My neighbor is big into concealed carry and was all excited to meet Clarke a few weeks ago. Clarke asked him if he was carrying and asked to see what he had. His response was something like; ‘45 cal 1911a, good choice!’

Next time I see my neighbor though I want to tell him that it is a good think he didn't have one of his wimpy little 9mm; that would have been embarrassing.

Only in a Democrat primary could the vote count be 108.9% and be reported as such without the slightest bit of self-conciseness. They’re Democrats, what else can we expect?

LOL! That’s a funny story.

Clarke is one of those guys who just ‘gets it’ - you got to like that.
