Murthy is the 36-year-old president and co-founder of the anti-gun group Doctors for America, which advocates ObamaCare and gun control laws. His group, which has been dubbed "Docs vs. Glocks," has pushed Congress to ban "assault" weapons and "high-capacity" magazines.

President Obama entered office promising to restore the sanctity of science. Instead, a fresh war against science, statistics, and reason is being waged on behalf of politically correct politics. After the Sandy Hook tragedy, the president attempted to convert national outrage into new gun-control legislation. Specifically, he focused on curtailing semi-automatic “assault” rifles. But there is no statistical evidence that such guns — semi-automatic rifles that have mostly cosmetic changes to appear similar to banned military-style fully automatic assault weapons — lead to increased gun-related crimes.

The Arvada Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a vehicle that was used to steal more than $100,000 in ammunition from a local gun store. The thieves also stole several other miscellaneous items, but no guns were taken in the theft. The burglary took place on Thursday, February 20 at approximately 9:30 p.m.

On February 27 Breitbart News reported Representative Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) and Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) were asking Obama for "$10 million" in funding so that gun violence research could start moving forward. But a report the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC)--released February 26--shows that gun violence research has been booming apart from and without federal funding. In other words, it is inaccurate to claim that research will flounder or never start unless tax-payer monies are used to fund it.

From the days after the heinous crime at Sandy Hook Elementary until now, Democrats have relentlessly pushed "expanded background checks" as a necessary part of preventing further gun violence. In so doing, only a few of them have been honest enough to admit that "expanded background checks" would not have stopped Sandy Hook from happening and even less--that is, zero--have admitted the actual dangers "expanded background checks" pose to law-abiding citizens.

The National Rifle Association has an affinity program with VISA, whereby its 5 million plus members earn sort of an equivalent of a “cash back” program for the NRA on purchases made with the cards. The NRA says over $20 million has been raised through the program over the years. The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence Ownership can’t stand that.

Western Springs and La Grange members of an anti-gun violence group are asking area businesses to post signs depicting No Guns Allowed. A new state law allows residents to carry concealed weapons, pending approval of permit applications through the Illinois State Police. The first such permits are expected to be issued beginning March 1. “I prefer to shop in places where I feel safe,” said Katherine Mudd, a Western Springs member of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
