The Democrats' Crowded Clown Car
American Thinker.com ^ | April 17, 2019 | Anna L. Stark

“Overwhelming” is the only word which properly describes the growing list of 2020 Presidential candidates vying to unseat Donald Trump. To date, there are the officially declared, the yet to declare, and a handful of teetering outliers. The outliers aren’t in the running per se, but in the event no Democrat is able to garner the party nomination, one of them might be persuaded to step up to the podium.

The Declared Candidates:Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Robert O’Rourke, Pete Buttigieg, Corey Booker, Amy Klobuchar, Andrew Yang, Julian Castro, Kirsten Gillibrand, Jay Inslee, Tulsi Gabbard, John Hickenlooper, John Delaney, Eric Swalwell, Tim Ryan, Wayne Messam, and Marianne Williamson.

So far, it’s a very crowded field of 18 people; some of whom have no national name recognition but are pandering for votes and shilling for campaign donations in unison. And therein lies the problem. While there is no clear frontrunner, there is a defined chasm of ideological differences: Socialism versus traditional Democrats. A far left sociopolitical demographic of the Democrat party has emerged and they are fierce. Furthermore, the once shared universal message for liberal voters has been set aside in favor of identity politics, giving rise to single-issue factions. And while the Democratic party’s preeminent goal is removing Donald Trump from the Oval Office, unification of liberals will remain elusive and perhaps, philosophically impossible. Centrist Democrats have fled in numbers which can’t be ignored and should one of the declared far-left candidates get the nomination for 2020, it will be challenging to lure moderate liberals back into the fold; especially in a time of economic prosperity and phenomenal job growth.

The Undeclared candidates: Joe Biden, Steve Bullock, Stacey Abrams, Michael Bennet, Terry McAuliffe, Seth Moulton, and Howard Schultz.

I can’t remember but were there rumblings of Trump getting in in April 2015? Honestly, I don’t remember anyone talking about him getting into the race until he actually did, perhaps a week before. Once he got into the race, I clearly remember he shot to the top. During the first debate I think it was Walker in first and Trump in second.

Looking at it from that perspective, I don’t see any of the candidates out there that are thinking about it able to jump in and zoom to the top. It’s hard to speculate on some unknown jumping in. I agree with you that we are a long way from sorting this out and the Dems will possibly coalese around one of these candidates. However, I just don’t see it.

The reason is that Bernie has a huge war chest and a devoted following of 25 percent. Then there are the other Dems that are deathly afraid of him winning the nomination. I think that may be close to that 75% left. People may say that sounds a lot like Trump and the Republicans in 2016 but I think it’s different. The Dems have had 3 years to get to know Bernie and he’s not running away with it. He has not swayed that other faction of the party as Trump eventually did. I believe there will be chaos right up to the convention and no one is going to have enough votes. It will be decided at the convention.

btw, the mall of america perp is from Chicago. Go figure.

Saw a report that the victim has gone through tests and doesn’t have spinal cord injury or brain damage. I don’t really believe that but if true..that is an honest to god miracle

there is a pic of him and his mom while he lays in the hospital bed. just scary, pathetic , and so tragic.

Yes, none of that will land on Moochelle. Here’s the other thing that’s scary about the Mooch swooping in at the convention and taking it, there will only be a couple months until the election. No one will be expecting it and therefore the proper oppo research will not have been done before the convention on her as it has on other potential candidates. There will be precious little time to dig into her dirty Chi-town dealings and bring it forth to the public before election day.

You’re thinking like a conservative. Think like our enemy, being a woman or a minority is huge to them and she’s both. Why do you think ole’ Bob goes by Beto? It’s because of identity politics.

They need to be doing it now to be ready.

None of the current people can beat Trump.

Michelle is the one AOC and others will get behind.

Perhaps they put Michelle in as VP

"They need to be doing it now to be ready."

I agree with you. They should have some oppo research done now and if there are any rumours or events that happen getting close to the convention that looks like the Mooch might jump into this (such as ramping up campaign staff etc... you can't keep it a secret right until the very end), start putting the stuff out there.

Moochelle dreams bigger than that. So does Oprah. And Hillary.

An old Get Smart episode had native Americans attempting to force the United States to surrender to a takeover of the country.

Question to the spy Chief: "Maybe they will compromise. We could offer them, say, Nebraska and maybe they'll accept that."

the Chief:(disgusted) "Would you?"

Actually, your spellchecker is probably smarter & more accurate than most of the candidates in their field…

They're democrats, they are all gay.

But I think you are referring to Peter Buttplug (the current mayor of South Bend IN. I may have his name slightly misspelled).

It's always struck me as funny that a guy who takes the peter in the butt represents a city with "bend"(over) in it.

You Are Not Alone out there. She would definitely possess a definite star quality for the low information voter and more difficult for Trump to criticize.

I don’t really know.

My gut feeling is that she lacks the persona, the charisma, to pull it off.
