Donald Trump hits back at 'Hillary flunky' Meryl Streep's Golden Globes dig
Fox News ^ | 01/07/2017

Donald Trump wasted no time responding to Meryl Streep's remarks at Sunday night's Golden Globe Awards where the actress gave a somber speech about the President-elect.

Trump called Streep "one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood" in a tweet Monday morning calling her a "Hillary flunky who lost big."

Shortly after the 74th annual Golden Globes wrapped, where "La La Land" and "Moonlight" were the night’s big winners, Trump told the NY Times he had not seen the show or Streep's remarks. He also added that he was "not surprised" for coming under attack from "liberal movie people" especially a "Hillary Lover" like Streep.

He continued to defend his behavior from an interview with a disabled reporter in 2015 in which he insists he didn't mock anyone, a moment Streep had said was an example of Trump's "instinct to humiliate."

"I was never mocking anyone. I was calling into question a reporter who had gotten nervous because he had changed his story," he told the paper in a phone interview after the Globes. "People keep saying I intended to mock the reporter’s disability, as if Meryl Streep and others could read my mind, and I did no such thing."

His tweets Monday morning echoed his thoughts late Sunday night.

Trump is still in his bare-knuckles primary mode. At this point I’d like him to shift into using something more sophisticated,
.............................................................
My point is that Trump doesn’t need to be more “sophisticated.” Middle America is FED UP with sophistication. Trump only needs to CONTINUE to be himself and he will stay in touch with America. People have been sensitized to promises made and never kept, to politicians saying something just for votes. IMO it would be detrimental for Trump to “change styles.” He was elected as a man of the people and so he should remain. George Washington was not a highly educated sophisticated person, but he was a gentleman and beloved by the people. I have never believed in changing a winning combination, especially just to appear “more acceptable” to some people. Just my take on it after lots and lots of years more or less in the people business.

And she is recognized by her peers as the greatest.

Those very same peers think Donald J. Trump is Satin in the flesh, so why is their opinion so valuable to you?

the same reason I would listen to you if you were speaking about your trade.

ho show;ld we listen too about acting ability? People on a politcal web site whop hate 90% of those they would be judging. If you could separate your politics and judge someone’s ability to act, then you didn’t be asking such stupid questions.

She has the right to say whatever she wants. If I read the constitution correctly. In fact the first amendment was written so that you could express those opins. IO can’t believe I’m giving remedial constitution lessons on this site.

counter punchers don’t punch at everyone in the arena. The pick an opponent and knock them out. This is petty and below his stature and his campaign manager already counter punched.

She is the best actress since Katherine Hepburn and maybe better. She rivals the finest British actresses of the last 50 years. She does accents better than anyone and some speech specialist say she is often dead on. Her range of performances is very broad, musicals, drama’s comedies. The range of characters she has played dis wider than any one I can point to. And she is recognized by her peers as the greatest.

I walked out of Kramer vs Kramer hoping I would never have to sit through a film with her in it ever again. As a paying customer, I have a right to think she is a scenery chewing fraud. And I do.

I was on my to turn off the TV even before Meryl turned on Trump. First she blathered on about all the different countries the actors were from - as if they were all about to get kicked out. Then she mused about what us simpletons would have left to watch without the wonderful Hollywood crowd around (oh! The HORROR!)
She’s such a bore.

Hows about Barry Hussein on a talk show laughing about how bad his bowling was "like the Special Olympics."

Direct lying for nefarious purposes was not in the view of the Founders. In fact one of them stated that only a moral people would thrive under the Constitution. She can say whatever she wants but should be sued for slander because her assertion is a lie.

I don’t think public figures can sue for slander, but knock yourself out. Most of it was opinion. Political opinion is the foundational example of freedom of speech.

I’m a great believer in Freedom of Speech, but tolerance for Liberal slander is against the grain. If I ever see the Bitch Streep she will get a dose of my Freedom of Speech.

You would not listen to me period unless it gave you an opportunity to boost your self importance.

If you could separate your politics and judge someone’s ability to act, then you didn’t be asking such stupid questions.

Actually it wasn't really a question as much as a statement calling into question your ability to reason. Opinions of people that have a vested outcome in what you believe are not to be trusted solely on their assertions.

Not only this makes him look thin-skinned, petty and lacking self-control (unless it's a diversion designed to occupy the media from other events, in which case there were many better options), but it also makes him look somewhat hypocritical because a little more than a year ago (just before campaign got under way) he "loved" the now-"overrated" Meryl Streep:**

"A phone and a pen" or Twitter should be put to better use, or else it will keep one very busy responding to irrelevant triviality.

"Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren't" - Margaret Thatcher
