Donald Trump wasted no time responding to Meryl Streep's remarks at Sunday night's Golden Globe Awards where the actress gave a somber speech about the President-elect.
Trump called Streep "one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood" in a tweet Monday morning calling her a "Hillary flunky who lost big."
Shortly after the 74th annual Golden Globes wrapped, where "La La Land" and "Moonlight" were the nights big winners, Trump told the NY Times he had not seen the show or Streep's remarks. He also added that he was "not surprised" for coming under attack from "liberal movie people" especially a "Hillary Lover" like Streep.
He continued to defend his behavior from an interview with a disabled reporter in 2015 in which he insists he didn't mock anyone, a moment Streep had said was an example of Trump's "instinct to humiliate."
"I was never mocking anyone. I was calling into question a reporter who had gotten nervous because he had changed his story," he told the paper in a phone interview after the Globes. "People keep saying I intended to mock the reporters disability, as if Meryl Streep and others could read my mind, and I did no such thing."
His tweets Monday morning echoed his thoughts late Sunday night.

I tried to find that on YouBoob, but it seems to have been disappeared. But I did find this one, a bunch of liberal Brits on BBC mocking McCain's disability.
Does anyone remember that clip of Obama making fun of McCain’s injured arms during his first election campaign? He stood there moving his shoulders up and down as he mimicked McCain. The press never made a peep. Would love to see that clip again.
Update: Found it on FR, but someone changed the video!

That is what W did. It did not work. The cultural marxists need to be slammed everytime! Done being nice.
Gotta love it when folks who make millions pretending to be someone else try to tell real people how to vote and think....
I hope Hollywood movie investors realize that I won’t pay for any of their products employing Streep, Fallon and Laurie. Shit, you can see Fallon, for free, vomiting in Manhattan gutters almost every 5 AM.
When I see Streep and Wraith Fay, I know that one guy one time once said, “You think you’re funny? See if you think this is funny!”
Fay with the Joker cheek; Streep with the broken nose.
Actually, you have a GREAT idea there. I didn’t fully read what you originally posted. My mistake.
I think Free Republic is a great source of talent for the team that you are suggesting. Many people here are VERY FAST with some INCREDIBLY CLEVER comments as soon as a new story is posted.
I see it every single day, multiple times every day. This site could be a goldmine for Trump, if he and his team only chose to make use of it... by getting immediate updates from selected FR users. (And I do not mean me. I appreciate the great posters here, but I don’t count myself as one of them.)
Actors need to be more like dentists and grocers. (Hows that for an odd sentence?)....They are seriously too stupid to do those jobs.
celebrity flunkies to shut up and run for elected office....Al Franken begs to differ.
I think it’s good he trashes these morons at every turn. He should not let lies gain a foothold.
If he simply ignores them it’ll be open season on him like it was with W.
Or how about the time Obama was on The Tonight Show and told Jay Leno he bowled a 129 game and remarked “it was like Special Olympics or something.”
Besides, It really only took about 10 seconds to respond. Im sure barry spends that much time trying to figure out how to unzip his fly...
IMHO this growing problem with actors shooting their fat mouths off began not too long ago when the Brits started knighting wearers of pancake makeup, then musicians.
Aristotle wrote that rhetoric has no subject matter but can be applied to any subject. Actors have come to see themselves as rhetoricians instead of paid stage monkeys.
These blank slates endlessly strutting and fretting their own dialogue as they trod the boards can vent everywhere now with TV, so we have reached the point now where they take themselves seriously.
They are supposed to play real people, not volunteer their pretend, sheepish political opinions at every opportunity.
Totally agree. Trump needs to stop swatting at these gnats and get to work. He has plenty of others that can do the swatting for him.
................................................................
But you don’t understand that these little gnats are an amusement for Trump and his swatting them is merely a break in his workday. Some people like to hit a tennis ball. Trump smashes gnats for amusement. He’s entitled!!!
I disagree; that’s what Bush did - where did that get him??
AGREED!!!!!!!
I’d like to see Trump invite gifted young people to entertain at the White House along with gifted Military people. I think he should black list ALL the Hollywood Clintonistas and Obamites. ALL of them!
So you’re trying to say he should become an elitist and therefor lose direct contact with 19 million followers? I DON’T think so.
Gary Sinise comes to mind
..............................................
Clint Eastwood comes to my mind!
Sometimes we confuse the politics wth the actors skill and I think thats what we are doing here.
..........................................................
Being a talented actress doesn’t give her the right to demean the newly elected President of the United States! She showed her common side and many will NOT forget it. I’ve never particularly cared for her and she’ll never reach the heights of Hepburn!

For clarification, kindly take a look at my post #75. My advice to The Donald would be to try to be a bit more Reaganesque. And needless to say, Reagan was no elitist!
