HOUSTON - It was a unique offer by the Shiloh Shooting Range in northwest Harris County, just days after the shooting at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando. Shiloh offered free gun classes to the LGBT community and hundreds of people responded.
"We learned gun safety, said Jared Anthony. We learned that it's not ... it's a big responsibility. If you do carry, it's something that you do need to take seriously. You are providing ... you're providing a service to the community really." More News Headlines

Anthony was one of the more than 300 people who responded to Shilohs offer of free concealed carry classes. The calls kept coming.
"They're not necessarily what we've been told and we're not necessarily what they've been told, said Shiloh owner Jeff Sanford.
He said the classes broke barriers. In the first class, he said 60 of 62 who signed up showed up. He said that was a record for a free class.

This right. Yes, a right, belongs to everyone. I welcome safe, armed and law abiding citizens to the force.
Roger that. But, please train and train and train. Then, train some more. And for sure, be well versed on the laws in your area. Better, learn the law in surrounding areas as well. Living as close to Cali as we do I have to remind myself to clean the truck out, if for some unknown reason, I venture across the state line.
And the candidate they most readily would vote for is the one who will quickly deny them this basic right of self defense.
Thankfully, from Georgia, I now don’t have to worry about venturing into another connected state. The last hold out just enacted reciprocity.
The LGBT community represents a group of people with a mental disorder; a relatively benign disorder but a mental disorder non-the-less.
This group of people also on the whole have a significantly higher suicide rate than the general public. Not necessarily people you want to have armed.
I am not saying it is a bad thing to teach them firearm safety or that they should be restricted from owning firearms. I am simply point out the relevant facts.
The people that know the individuals the best should give them council on the wisdom of their carrying weapons.
Something about the administration and Hillary being cozy with people who kill them for being gay may be sinking in.
No training in the constitution. Let’s not be forced by the left to infringe the 2nd.
I was taught by dad to follow the basic rules as sometimes attributed to Jeff Cooper. After that if you want to be regulated by friggin lawyers it’s up to you.
Rule 1: All guns are always loaded.
Rule 2: Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
Rule 3: Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you are ready to fire.
Rule 4: Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
Since guns were the cause of the Orlando shooting...this just means there’s going to be an exponential amount of shootings in Orland. ...
Right??? ...
Not so benign when you consider the numbers of these whackos actively seeking the AIDS virus, child rape, etc. They are every bit as evil as the Lord warned.
But it amazes me that since Orlando, some posters (mostly libertarian I suspect) seem to look at them as comrades in arms.
Queers are not "one of us." Never will be. They continue to be a part of the evil in the Republic that is destroying the nation.
Oops...Houston
I didn’t mean to suggest that the be required to train. Just that it might be a wise thing to do.
Yeah, the lgbt’s are American, and have the same right to self-preservation, as any other manjack American.
Yeah, do learn the laws in your respective area, if you plan to carry ‘just within the county’, or ‘throughout the whole state’. There is a difference.
(For me, it’s $10.00/yr. County, or $500.00 for only 5 years State-wide.)
Yeah, do go and get familiar with your piece.
There are those that advocate to go to a more-than-ten-dollar-fee training seminar, letting loose maybe 300 rounds or so a day for two days (approx. $30.00 a box of 20 or 50 adds up quick!).
For those so inclined to own a nice simple snub-nose revolver, there are classes for that, too.
Just be aware that there are those that will berate you for your choice of simplicity, whether revolver or semi-auto, for all sorts of agendas.
Have not many if not most of them have jump ship to the one who says Make America Great Again.
This works... In Orlando 49 AMERICANS were slaughtered... Conservatives are assisting fellow Americans with help in protecting themselves and their community.
I thoughtfully added the word relatively to suggest that the majority of the group are not sociopaths or generally violent.
Yes there is a subset of their number that are malicious but on the whole the LGBTs are not an immediate physical danger and their danger to society will not be substantively increased by their carrying arms.
I recognize the dangers presented by the LGBTs but also recognize that they are entitled to their civil rights.
It’s an ill wind that blows no good.
NRA membership increases again
You admitted they have a mental disorder. Such people have no “right” to own, much less, carry firearms.
