Cruz's Image Plummets, Trump's Improves Among Republicans

Ted Cruz -- attempting to hold on to the narrowing possibility that he can wrest the GOP nomination away from front-runner Donald Trump -- faces a crucial Indiana primary on Tuesday. Meanwhile, and perhaps ominously for Cruz, he has run into headwinds among Republicans at the national level. His image has essentially nosedived over the past week or two, while Trump's image has become more positive.

Republicans' views of Cruz are now the worst in Gallup's history of tracking the Texas senator. His image among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents is at 39% favorable and 45% unfavorable, based on April 24-30 interviewing, for a net favorable score of -6. The last few days have marked the first time we have seen Cruz's image underwater since we began daily tracking in July.

I’ll bet he is wondering, “What went wrong”?

“I’ll bet he is wondering, “What went wrong”?”

Nothing went wrong. Trump just has a broader appeal.

Notice Cruz’ peak favorability was mid January, right before he stopped with the “my friend Donald” stuff and went negative on Trump.

Trump has tended to a combination of survival international policy and centrist domestic policy.

It's a strange thing. A year ago, I was one of Ted Cruz's biggest boosters here. I wholeheartedly supported him for the presidency. Today, I just want him to go away.

What the hell happened to this guy?

What went wrong?

Being born in a foreign country to a foreign father was not his fault.

Lying about his status, was.

The Colorado rigged outcome also turned public opinion against
Cruz.

Interesting. My opinion of both of them has gone down.

Nothing succeeds like success!

Mediocre-intellect pundits were giving their opinion on TV yesterday, never getting it right. Some nitwits opined that Trump's support is increasing because people want to be on the side of a winner--maybe in their world.

Trump's support is increasing because people who like what he's saying once thought him unelectable--or maybe not a sure bet--have now concluded that he is definitely electable and, with their support, will be elected President.

At least, Trump’s complaints about the questionable representation taking place in the process (surely not all Colorado was head over heels for Cruz?) were a powerful factor.

The mutability of the delegates might actually turn to Donald’s favor now, helping him squeak over the line without multiple convention ballots.

you are right on

Cruz is now in the final minutes of the fourth quarter and committing all the fouls he can to try to stop his loss

Fouls in the 4th quarter are part of the game and ok but letting air out of the ball is unsportsmanlike and a mortal sin

Well you’ve just said the same thing, but from the obverse side. Loving a winner and loving a non-loser sound like the same thing!

Lyin' Ted was exposed for what he has always been...
- a sleazy, lying lawyer
- a long time Bushie establishmentarian
- a partner with Heidi's (Goldman-Sachs) traitorous No Borders NAU
- a partner with Lyin' Ryan's TPA/TPP
- a promoter of the Dread Traitor John Roberts

Check this out:

Trump is scoring very well across all income brackets. Every single one. Trump has support across the board. Low income people. Medium income people. High income people. Even the highest (and the lowest) income people all support Donald Trump.

Cruz has the lowest two income brackets. That is IT.

Check it out for yourself:

He started doing very strange things under pressure.

Trump may not have been exactly a sweetheart, but he didn’t vary, either.
