Go Daisy!!! LOL!
You were lucky! I can’t imagine how scary that must have been! I’ve never seen an actual tornado, but I’ve dreamed of them for years.
Just hope I don’t tonight! LOL!
But....I’d better go try. zzzzzzz.........
Ate lunch there today. It seems the power brokers meet there for lunch.
It’s a bit out of the way driving wise. The decor is above reproach. My job is protect the Data Room.
All of the employees are very happy to be there.
Even my own don’t identify with “Fuquay Varina”. It’s southwest of Raleigh a bit. Nice town.
Hail can be so destructive.
radu.....#50!!
That was quite a sweep and this is a great time of year to do it. NC is gorgeous this time of year, especially through the mountains. Lovin’ that Asheville mountains view. *sigh*
Thanks, Meg...it’s been stressful at work and at home this week. I’m starting to relax and that usually leads to falling asleep at the computer. LOL!
I am lucky sometimes. I have jobs that take me onto the Blue Ridge into Cherokee and others that may take to the Outer Banks. (OBX, for those wondering what that meant)
I didn’t see the tornado. All I saw was water - - lots and lots of water. Couldn’t see more then 10 feet from where I was standing.
The guy who lives behind the farm saw the funnel come down and came over to see if we were all right afterwards. It was a small funnel and that’s the only reason we were as lucky as we were. Had it been one of those monsters, it would have been a totally different outcome.
The first thing Hubby said to me when we saw each other afterwards was, “Well, I guess this kills your desire to go out west to ride with storm chasers.” And my response was, “No way!! I still want to do that!” LOL
You’d better be in bed by now, young lady. You need a good night’s sleep!
See ya tomorrow. :-)
I pray you get some help soon at home.
Back in the early ‘80s, there was a local radio DJ who did a humorous commentary segment every morning. One thing he talked about almost every day was “Six Flags Over Fuquay”, which of course didn’t exist. But it was part of his shtick. Back then, Fuquay-Varina wasn’t much more than a spot in the road but it had become a bedroom community and had grown by the time I left Raleigh in ‘93. It’s probably even larger now.
He also talked about Lizard Lick and I thought that was fake, too, for a long time. Then I found out there really WAS a Lizard Lick - - basically a crossroads east of Raleigh.
What a beautiful place to work.
Protect that Data Room well...and I know you do.
Downtown Fuquay is OK but the toll road to RTP is right there.
Thats where your Cisco is living.
Aaaaaaah, the Outer Banks. Just love them. I didn’t get to go there as often as I’d have liked but did get there several times.
That was a good thing about living in Raleigh. A couple of hours east and I was at the beach. A couple of hours west and I was in the mountains.
I’m close to mountains here but the beach is a loooooooong way off. :-(
Honey, it is hundreds if not thousands of them.
Not easy to get there.
TOLL ROAD????? They have a toll road to RTP now???? Sheesh!!!!
That whole area was really nice when I moved there in ‘79 but over time, it grew and grew ..... too fast. By the time I left in ‘93 to come here to take care of Mom, I was ready to get out of there.
After Mom died, I moved to Wilmington, NC and visited Raleigh a couple of times. Did not like! The whole area was a mess.
And now they have toll roads around there. Just sad what has become of the area.
Nope, not easy from here at all. The closest beach to get to is Ft. Walton and that’s an 8 to 9 hour drive due south. Not exactly a weekend getaway.
