More Americans Oppose Men Using Women's Bathrooms, Reuters Polling Finds
The Christian Post ^ | 25 Apr 16 | Samuel Smith

Reuters data from April 22 finds that only about 40.9 percent of 1,753 respondents say "people should use public restrooms according to the gender which they identify." Meanwhile, about 45 percent of respondents said "people should use public restrooms according to their biological sex."

The April 22 results represent an approximate 10 percentage-point increase in the number of people who believe everyone should use restrooms designated for their biological sex in just nine days.

According to results obtained by Reuters on April 13, only about 35 percent of 331 respondents felt people should use bathrooms designated for their biological sex, while 46 percent responded by saying they believe people should be allowed to use the restroom of the sex with which they identify.

Support for allowing transgender people to use opposite sex bathrooms reached its lowest point on April 19, when only 37.7 percent of 1,780 respondents said they felt people should be allowed to use the bathroom of the sex with which they identify.

The data indicates that the general public may not be embracing the left's transgender bathroom agenda

That’s why this is a non issue if they take that huge bathroom square footage and install a bunch of separate 6x6 individual restrooms.

America doesn’t care about its daughters.

Only its pizza and beer.

I most heartily agree with you on the policing of these things. Nobody’s been asking for IDs, nobody’s been X-raying pants.

However, a very sensitive nerve in the public sensibilities has been located. Trump kind of fumbled on that. He went all pragmatic. In doing so, he just dissed the final fig leaf left to America.

As a Christian I know I’m a sinner. Becoming Christian doesn’t mean poof, instant heavenly saint. It means entering a promise and being the recipient of a gift that will end up in my being able to live in heaven instead of the hell which would otherwise be the only place suited for me.

America, mostly, saw Christian as not this, but as meaning to display an arbitrary level of virtue. And I think we just discovered what that was.

This may be the trend — more private toilet stalls, and the abolition of the urinal.

I can’t believe it is this close. Doesn’t anyone have young daughters?

That's because on a national level, one's daughter has a greater chance of being killed by a drunk illegal driving his car than being approached by a transvestite in a public restroom.

I think they want said daughters to enjoy the fig leaf more than they enjoy actual safety.

I think we’ve happened upon a profound psychological truth, however.

People might want to live and let live with respect to the sexually confused without even demanding that they be policed. However they want to be able to draw some kind of line with respect to majority practice. People want man caves and woman caves to continue to exist and to continue to mean what they meant.

How do you deal with this respectfully? It’s so easy to fumble because the social rules have changed so much.

I would maintain this is a theological and church issue. And perhaps even advantageous to evangelism. Churches can now advertise things like: where did your sexuality go? well, we can show you where it came from. And get a meaningful response.

Yeah, he called that one wrong and it was an easy one.

Compared to deportation, the wall, and banning Muslims - he had the pulse of the people with those.

OTOH - perhaps he is taking talking points away from Hillary. This bathroom thing is likely not anyone’s #1 issue.

That could be it... Trump is trying to signal that this shouldn’t be considered a huge deal.

The problem is, I think it is a huge deal in terms of its subjective impact.

I’d say let Hillary try to stump for this. It will prove poison to her candidacy. In the meantime Trump can be all 10th Amendment about it, and will smell like a rose from a constitutional point of view. A president who sees a bigger role for the states is going to be welcome to constitutional aficionados.

DEFINITELY not anyone’s number 1 issue!!

the polls are basically 50/50 so certainly no harm done.

It’s easier to win on this issue than any of those. These social issues are the ones where Democrats are radically out-of-step with the majority.

And a lot of the people voting pro-tranny in this poll are just trying to sound “politically correct.” On the secret ballot, their answer would be no.

Trump has to make clear that his SCOTUS judges will leave it to the states as they should, while Hillary’s judges would mandate trannies in the bathroom of their choosing nationwide under penalty by the federal bureau of transgender rights.

You mean both party’s nominees?
Too true about the proverbial camel, but it is not its nose that most concerns me - it is another, much more problematic, appendage that is sure to follow.

You make a good point - but any parent of a little girl (or little boy) who is molested as a result of this breach of sanity and morality will not agree.
