TRUMP Likely to Win West Virginia Vote But Lose the Delegates to Cruz
Gateway Pundit ^ | April 16, 2016 | Jim Hoft

Donald Trump is set to win West Virginia but GOP elites will likely give the delegates to Ted Cruz anyway.

It’s the latest state where Cruz will lose but garner more delegates than Donald Trump. Cruz supporters call this a “good ground game.” The Politico reported: Donald Trump has a new enemy in the fight for national convention delegates: the alphabet.

Trump is well-positioned for a resounding victory in West Virginia’s May 10 primary, but his win will be accompanied by a delegate selection process stacked in favor of people with last names at the beginning of the alphabet — rather than his most committed supporters.

It’s a quirk of West Virginia’s mind-bogglingly complex delegate election process that has the Trump campaign on red alert and seems likely to leave the mogul with weaker support at the national convention than he’s expected to earn in the state’s primary. It’s yet another convoluted primary system likely to add fuel to Trump’s complaints that the rules of the Republican nomination process are rigged.

Maybe a former Saddam Husseun supporter. Saddam was a master at rules. That’s why he got 99% of the vote.

Yes, the other 31 choices were for Kasich, candidates who had dropped out or “no candidate preference stated”.

“I believe the WV delegates are bound to whatever candidate they’re declared for on the ballot. They vote for the delegates by name. So theoretically multiple candidates could win some delegates.”
*************************************************************************
For the period for which they are “bound”, the WV delegates that win enough votes to be selected as delegates to the national convention for their Congressional district MUST vote for the presidential candidate that received the most votes IN THEIR CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT. This “binding” occurs even if a particular delegate had, on the ballot, been identified as supporter of different candidate.

Our founder never envisioned political parties, much less that anyone who didn’t invest time in that organization, do the heavy lifting when there is no big exciting race should be able to tell the party what to do. It’s called Freedom of Association.

Second, we live in a Republic not a democracy. I know it’s hard when words like wall, and Lyin Ted, and Yuge are cluttering up the mental circuits, but see if you can figure out the difference.

When there is no representation of the The People its not a Republic. When you cannot distinguish the method of choosing the “reps” from how its done in North Korea and Cuba its not a republic.

“Voters don’t matter” is the same as “Taxation without representation.” Americans get this and are justifiably sharpening their Pitch forks.

My comment isn’t on what Cruz should do...it is on what the voters who otherwise like Cruz should do. The question is which team *you* want to win. You are trying to win a battle that will almost assuredly make you lose the war. A Pyrrhic victory, unless you prefer Hillary over Trump.

To reiterate, history shows that a contested candidate who enters the convention without a delegate lead WILL NOT WIN THE GENERAL ELECTION against a non-contested candidate, at least not in the last 100 years.

That's where Cruz is focusing his strategy; on the overtime game.

It is wrong to assign to Trump a delegate that is loyal to a candidate other then Trump over the objections of Trump. That is just plan wrong. That you are OK with doing this means you are part of the problem not the solution.

Ted Cruz standing tall with Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, Lindsey Gram, Paul Ryan, Carly Fiorina, Nicky Haley, Golden Sachs, The Club for Growth and the entire globalist GOPe establishment.

They are not going to let Trumpy steal the party from them. It ain’t gonna happen.

Then tens of millions of Trump supporters will vote a straight D ticket until every last GOP office holder is unelected.

While we may not live in a democracy, we do live in a representative Republic and when the rights and the will of the people are not put into motion by Representatives that they have selected it is Criminal.

It is against the foundation of this nation and it is an affront to everything that is Holy.
Making rules that subvert the right of people within National political organizations to be represented proportionally by their strength is a subversion of every principle foundational to the formation of this nation.

In recent decades people have shortened that concept into the single word democracy. In the strict sense of the term that may be wrong
But once again we all know what they’re talking about. There must be no rules made without full representation of the people, by the people, or for the people.

Lecturing us about the definition of a word from the Webster’s Dictionary while ignoring the colloquial meaning of that word is disingenuous.
Some people have attempted to use that argument to justify political actions that are anti-representational government and that would also be considered anti-democratic in the common parlance.

And allowing parties to subvert the representational form and function of governments both state and local is wrong morally, ethically and politically.

Closing the representative process to an ever-smaller group of people who pay for access or who manipulate for access and who have not been exposed to vetting by the population of the state or local government that they are attempting to govern is Criminal even if they use the sock puppet of a political party to carry it out.

Colorado and Wyoming are too blatant examples that have been steadily degrading the ratio, accessibility and selectability of their slate of delegates.

This is happening relative to a presidential election. And apparently they’re using this contrived party process to subvert the revealed and expressed will of the people to select those delegates of their choice to a national nominating convention.

It’s wrong and it’s wrong wherever it’s done. The excuse of it’s okay because I stayed within the rules of the party that I made up to protect my power does not make it right.

When the rules are wrong the outcome is immoral. That’s what we’re seeing here and all of Middle America thinks it stinks to high heaven. That means it doesn’t matter what the Republican Party says. America sees what they have done instinctively and knows that it was wrong.

It is destroying Ted’s backers, the GOP e which lies at the root of dirty Ted’s campaign.

It is good they are out of the closet on this. Fully exposed along with all those who take pleasure in the wickedness of technically enhanced corruption. Puke city.

I read them all the time, trump supporters know he can get the job done and are pragmatic and looking to hire him. Scruzerbots almost romantically cling to his every word and have a weird home state bias,It is nauseating to say the least.

But that's just me....

If the "you's" of the political process refuse to let legitimate long-standing Republicans vote for nominees, disenfranchised folks are going to be in a rage this summer. That's across the political spectrum.

They must figure there is nothing we can ever do about it - and I wonder if they’re right.

The GOPe haven't met the kamikaze voter.

The thought struck me, reading through this thread, that "following the rules and winning with a handful of supporters", what I'll call the "Cruz overtime" or "Cruz second ballot" approach, that tactic of using a small number of motivated people to take over is used in other venues.

Exactly what I have in mind is FR, but the same technique of using a small number of people to influence or control a larger group is also done by the press, by small numbers of people in #BLM, #OWS, etc. I am emphatically NOT drawing equivalence between these groups, not saying that Cruz supporters sympathize with #BLM or #OWS, etc. I mean, of course they don't have the same sympathies. I'm just noticing similarity in tactic - a small number of motivated people can obtain control, or at least the appearance of control.

As with anything else, winning by the rules, following the procedure, whatever one calls it, is no guarantee the contest reached the "correct" conclusion. More likely it does when the rules are followed, but not 100% guaranteed.

Here is the problem the “let them eat cake” advocates have. Colorado is not in isolation. Americans have been seeing similar North Koran Election style tactics in every state the GOPe #Nevertrump Party Hacks control how the delegate selection happens.

Once they could have gotten away with, But now its obvious its planned and executed by the GOPe #NeverTrump State party officers.

To continue to try to justify it is insulting our intelligence.

“If this system is not the will of the people, the people in each state can correct it. It may involve getting off their butts but it can be done.”

In what way is how Colorado went different from the system in North Korea and Cuba? Name 3 significant difference...

Yep - Cruz banking on the same folks he claims to oppose so much to manipulate things so he gets the nod on the second round - his original base (always narrow) is now so attenuated that he’ make Romney look like a Titan in the General.

Exactly what the Founders envisioned.

Except this is NOT the general election.

This is each party choosing a nominee to represent ITS party.

If you don't like the way your party runs things, form another party!

I, for one, don't appreciate independents and democrats, which Trump brags about constantly, choosing the nominee for MY party just as I don't appreciate a group from the "Fraternal Order of Eagles" coming over to my "VFW" to submit a nominee for Commander In Chief of my VFW!
