Donald Trump is set to win West Virginia but GOP elites will likely give the delegates to Ted Cruz anyway.
Its the latest state where Cruz will lose but garner more delegates than Donald Trump. Cruz supporters call this a good ground game. The Politico reported: Donald Trump has a new enemy in the fight for national convention delegates: the alphabet.
Trump is well-positioned for a resounding victory in West Virginias May 10 primary, but his win will be accompanied by a delegate selection process stacked in favor of people with last names at the beginning of the alphabet rather than his most committed supporters.
Its a quirk of West Virginias mind-bogglingly complex delegate election process that has the Trump campaign on red alert and seems likely to leave the mogul with weaker support at the national convention than hes expected to earn in the states primary. Its yet another convoluted primary system likely to add fuel to Trumps complaints that the rules of the Republican nomination process are rigged.

If Trump won that CD then he gets the delegates for that CD. They can’t change that. Not legally.
Well, it’s something a number of folks must hear.
They must grasp it and realize it’s a time for choosing.
We will continue to do what the Democrats want, or we will blow up the box and get this nation back on track.
Can’t have it both ways.
There are apparently 50 different sets of rules in all of the 50 States...With variations within the counties of each of those states...And it's clear the rules are set up to protect the insiders, the GOPe...
Is it legal??? Apparently...Is it fair to the American citizens??? Nope...We have found out the GOP does not represent We The People of the Constitution...And that's how we get stuck with these disgusting politicians like Romney and McCain and Cruz...
We’re in a banana republic. /Captain Obvious
You gonna be a busy man the next 10 days!
Don’t worry - several of us are watching things too.
No we aren't...We are finding out that option is not ours to make...The Republican Party which doesn't include the millions of people who call themselves Republicans is a club...A club for the elite and the elite wannabees...And they have devised a way to pick their own candidate in spite of the wishes of their supporters...
If we blow this chance, we truly are.
Cruz didn't figure out anything...It was an automatic progression to go with the next highest GOPe vote getter...
Last chance to save what parts of it are surviving.
And BamBam still has 9 months to go......
Can Donald change his name to Atrump?
Fruitcake republic.
Apparently the person who wrote this article did not understand how West Virginia delegates are selected or did not choose to share the information with us.
But why does Ted Cruz manage to get the delegates in a complicated primary?
Because he has an excellent staff and a good ground game.
Trump has never bothered to put a good team together and Trump does not want to work for delegates.
It’s amazing to me that trumpers support a candidate who lets them down because he’s too lazy to put forth effort and too stingy to put forth money.
It’s easier for trumpers to say Ted Cruz is cheating than to look to their own candidate who doesn’t want to bother with anything hard.
>>> There is NO reason for Cruz to quit until Trump has 1237 delegates
You don’t seem to understand this is a recipe for Prez. Hillary. In the last 100 years, with 8 contested-convention nominees, 6 lost outright; 1 (Harding) won only because the other party also had a contested nominee, so one of them had to win; and 1 (FDR) won after the Republicans presided over a recent stock market crash. FDR came into that convention with a majority of the delegates in the 1st round, but back then, 2/3 were required for nomination.
So only 1 of 8 contested nominees was able to defeat a non-contested nominee, and in that 1 case, he came to the convention already in the lead.
Your call for Cruz to make mischief is a call for President Hillary.
But should that happen, Cruz will learn that this cuts both ways. These delegates might not have to vote for Trump on a second ballot but they won't have to vote for Cruz either. He'll find that out the hard way should it come to it. The GOP would sooner have Trump than Cruz as nominee. But right now, Cruz is serving a purpose and keeping the dim hope alive that they might be able to slip in their establishment guy after all.
Soon as Trump gets north of 1,000 delegates, all this nonsense will fade away quickly.

What a load of crap.
GOP talking points to cover up their collusion. They're using all their infrastructure and cash to ensure Ted gets every available delegate.

Trump works about 6,000% more than Ted. And if Trump doesn't want to toss good money after bad its because it's his money. Cruz doesn't care how much it cost because he donors and the GOP keep the cash flowing.
Thank you for the clarification and I apologize for taking it the wrong way.
With all due respect.......horse pucky. Donald Trump has done nothing but "wheel and deal" his whole life. Heck, part of his campaign rhetoric for why he would be a good President is because he makes "great deals". He isn't an ideologue in any shape, manner or form when it comes to making those deals in his business life.....so why would working state delegate conventions/caucuses upset his delicate sensibilities? He should have left Cruz eating his dust in this part of the nomination process.....
What he's campaigning on right now is whining and complaining about the system being "corrupt", "rigged", etc. because he doesn't want to lose face should you ever figure out that he was never serious about running, in the first place......which is why he never bothered to learn the Republican rules, various state primary "quirks" or spent any money to set up the required ground game.
It caught him "flat footed" when America took him seriously....and he's been floundering around, all over the place, ever since.
If you don't believe me......think seriously for a moment, of any adult child (much less children) who would not register to vote for their father to be President of the United States of America. Trump's kids seem to be very bright individuals, so I don't think the regulations about registering were "over their heads". For adult children who seem to truly admire/love their father, it only makes sense when you realize they knew their father wasn't serious about being President, so they didn't see any reason to register for his publicity stunt.
This is a total perversion of having an elected President.
Where have you been for the last 10/20/30 years when the nominees were chosen the same way? Did you think it was a perversion then.....or is that a determination you have just come to because your "pick" is flunking out on the hard work portion of the delegate ground game?
EVERY REPUBLICAN running for office has to be told that if Cruz steals the nomination, there will be a majority of Republican voters who just might let them ALL lose.
If Trump wins 1237 (per the rules) and they try to take it away from him.......I'll join you in your fight, even though I don't particularly care for him.
If he doesn't, it plays out by Convention rules just like it has in decades past.
And by the way.....if they should crap on "my pick" at the Convention......I'll be mad as hell......but I'll never just "sit home" and let that Socialist cabal take the White House again without trying to stop them.
Nor will I "sit home" to let those same Socialists take over the House and Senate. "Anyone" we have in office is at least a tiny fraction better than them, IMHO.
But that's just me........
No, they just never expected the light to be so bright on these arcane and convoluted rules. How would you like to be Reince when this starts to really grow into a problem. Come on, they’re the GOP...you know they talk a good game but they’ll capitulate. They always do.
