Ted Cruz showed up Wednesday for a CNN town hall—or what Gawker frames as "another glimpse into the waking hell that is Heidi Cruz’s daily life"—with his wife and two young daughters in tow, and Heidi offered up a personal, if bizarre, nugget of life with the GOP presidential candidate. She dished on what her husband did right after they got back from their honeymoon: bought 100 cans of Campbell's Chunky soup. "I never bought 100 of anything," she told moderator Anderson Cooper. "This was shocking to me, so we had a tough conversation about it. I said, "You don't buy 100 of anything, much less canned soup. We can't do this."
Heidi said that while Ted was sleeping, she brought all 100 cans back to the store, but after a panicked phone call to her mother "just to make sure I'd done the right thing as a newlywed," she realized the soup should stay.

Well, for my part, I certainly wouldn’t want as President someone who buys 100 cans of soup. If he trusted God, as he says he does, he wouldn’t buy any soup at all. He’d just gather the manna that falls from Heaven every morning after praying for it in the evening.
I’ll admit that I’m a Progresso soup hoarder. My husband has a can nearly every day for lunch and when it’s not on sale it’s pricey. So, during the winter months when it’s $.99 a can I stock up. He doesn’t get it.

Nothing wrong with that. I eat soup for lunch. 100 cans when Campbell’s chunky or Progresso is on sale is doable. Would last me weeks. Plus it’s a nice hedge against those weeks I’m sick and can’t spend as much on groceries.
