According to Joe Bastardi (weatherbell.com), winter in the NE will be warmer than it was the past two years, but much snowier. We’ll see.

Heavy snow and multiple wrecks east of the Snoqualmie Pass summit have closed eastbound Interstate 90 at North Bend on Friday. The Washington State Patrol says eastbound lanes may stay closed until 8 p.m.

Chains are required on all vehicles except all-wheel drive on I-90 westbound, though there is significant backup because of a collision near Cle Elum, the state Department of Transportation reports. Oversize vehicles are prohibited. As of 5 a.m., 18 inches of snow had fallen on Snoqualmie Pass, 16 inches on Stevens Pass and 11 inches on White Pass. Another 4 to 8 inches of snow was expected later in the day.

“Hoping 4WD is enough”.

Going is helped by 4WD. Stopping is not.

Just saw a forecast for 2.5 feet of snow by end of weekend for western New York. Buffalo lake effect is gonna be brutal when this cold finally gets to the east. We dropped to mid 20’s last night in West Texas. Was brutal for us. Not supposed to get there till Jan/Feb.

This next week will see a loot of rainy days along the MS Gulf Coast - I haven’t looked at the source but would assume it’s part of a bigger system wending its way across the mainland.

so your probably gonna have a warmer than usual winter.

It was cold enough to have the wood stove going in November here in Central NH, but it's been unseasonably warm for weeks now (50s/30s). My lake, which froze last year on November 29 (a record early freeze) is 49F this morning, so it's going to be a while. The ski areas, which opened last year in late October to early November, are bare.

The Prius drivers are celebrating like Arabs on 9/11, believing their phony science to be vindicated.

Beware, Reno. It is unseasonably cold in the SW.

Wow! We’re driving from Salt Lake to Folsom, CA on Tuesday. Probably will stop in Reno and wait out having to put the chains on. Bought a set yesterday in Salt Lake for $40. If you buy them in Truckee they would certainly be $200 or more.

“We getting the rain before we get NFL team here in SO CAL LOL!”

After Dubya and Obama’s success at turning SoCal into the Third World, football won’t be nearly as popular as soccer.
