Actually, handled right — recognizing that overthrowing Assad was a stupid idea from start to finish and coordinating with both the Russians and indigenous forces opposed to the Daesh, the Kurds and the Syrian and Iraqi governments — there really should be no need for American ground troops. I was pleased to see reports of both A-10s and AC-130s in action. Air support of that sort for the fighters already there, along with a serious supply effort (including heavy weapons for the Kurds) really should suffice.

He doesn’t get it at all. Syrian refugees are both victims and perpetrators of terror, and he has no plan for how to sort them out.
