Actually, handled right — recognizing that overthrowing Assad was a stupid idea from start to finish and coordinating with both the Russians and indigenous forces opposed to the Daesh, the Kurds and the Syrian and Iraqi governments — there really should be no need for American ground troops. I was pleased to see reports of both A-10s and AC-130s in action. Air support of that sort for the fighters already there, along with a serious supply effort (including heavy weapons for the Kurds) really should suffice.
I agree. Assad is a genocidal thug. But it’s exactly what that place needs to keep terrorists in line.
