Trump promised that in his administration, veterans would receive better healthcare more quickly.
"The plan will ensure our veterans get the care they need, wherever and whenever they need it," he said.
Trump said that he would institute policies that would see Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities competing with non-VA hospitals. He said that under his plan, any veteran could go to a doctor that accepts Medicare and receive care.
In a winding indictment of the VA system, he targeted Veterans Health Administration hospitals that came under fire in the last year for keeping long wait lists of veterans who needed crucial care.
âThink about me going to my doctorâs office and waiting four days,â he said. "If I wait 15 minutes, Iâm angry as hell at the doctor.â
Trump said the VA system needed to be maintained but reformed. âI donât want to get rid of it, I want to supplement it," he said.
He promised to fire "the corrupt and incompetent VA executives who let our veterans down" and update the VA's policies to meet the needs of the younger veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"The fact that many VA hospitals donât permanently staff OB-GYN doctors shows an utter lack of respect for the growing number of female veterans,â Trump said, pledging that under his leadership, every VA hospital would have doctors specializing in women's health.
Veterans hospitals would, he added, put in place technology that connect patients to doctors and allows them to manage their care.
Trump, who appeared to break from his extemporaneous remarks to consult a document while speaking about his policy proposal, said he would also invest in policies to help ease the transition from active duty to civilian life.
He pledged to institute programs to help veterans start businesses and find employment,

You could always look at the actual plan and see what you think. I don’t think the article is meant be anything but a summary.

While Trump may lack on the details he seems to be a proven leader.
A leader that can quickly distill the problem and a solution, send out his lieutenants to get the job done.
This I like about him.
Will he and his people fall into bureaucratic maze of compromise and plastic glad handling that rules the day?
I don’t know.
We need someone that will burn this entire sh8thouse of a government down.
I have read his “plan” it is nothing but platitudes and vague generalities. Like everything else the man says. But... he says it loudly!
support whom you want.
Dude has more policy positions put out than anyone and papers defining some already the other well not so much. I tired of people lying saying he doesn’t have a clear position.
I disagree. I think that being saying a vet would be able to get care at any doctor who accepts medicare is detailed. Show me the more detailed plans from your preferred candidate. The chances are that the others are not even talking about this. The same with immigration. Do you know why they aren’t talking about those things? It is because they don’t plan on doing anything about them.
It looks pretty comprehensive. I’m not remembering any of the other GOP candidates getting too emotional over the Vets.
Rubio will, just wait, he’s memorizing his cue cards.
The VA is just another corrupt division of our corrupt government protected by said corrupt government’s department of injustice.
To be clear, I am not sold on Trump. His shtick often annoys me and I am still concerned that he will say something shockingly stupid. As we all know, you can have many chances to earn a vote, but it only takes one time to lose it. He is the riskiest candidate in the GOP field that I can remember for that reason. He also has a history that is sometimes anything but conservative. On a positive note, he does appear to be the candidate most likely to pick up some of the Reagan democrats and that is a big plus for the general election. He is high risk and potentially high reward.
The only other candidates still in the race that have the potential to shake things up are Carson and Cruz. Cruz is my favorite, but I have a hard time seeing his path to the nomination at this point. I like him and think he is the most principled conservative, but he does not seem to have the charismatic flair that a fickle electorate is looking for.
Carson is likable, but I have concerns about his qualifications. He is obviously smart, but his life story is not one of being an executive and/or making executive decisions. He does not appear to have the aggressive personality that can shake things up.
The rest of the field looks like business as usual. I like some things about Rubio, but his immigration stance is a deal breaker for me. I also don’t see him being the aggressive personality we need to shake things up in D.C. He really has not changed anything in the Senate despite sounding like a firebrand.
I am still up in the air. The problems in D.C. run deep and I am not convinced a business as usual candidate who says the right things is going to be very effective so I may well end up supporting Trump.
Did you hear what Trump said in one of his recent speakes?
“The first minute after I’m sworn in, the first minute, I’m going to sign an Executive Order repealing all of Obamas executive orders”
The FIRST minute?
Is he going to do that right there on stage?
LOL!
He’s the only one running who could pull that off!
——The FIRST minute?——
His chief of staff hands him the order on a clip board and a pen and.... voila, Obama is no more
I’m not sure which would be more exciting, the fact that all of Obamas Executive Orders are gone, the look on Obamas face, or the wailing and gnashing of teeth of the leftists and the lamentations of their women.
I read the article, what details.
Take it from an old stew burner, you didn't read what he said, or you don't care what he said. Lighten up.
I have fun thinking of Trumps First State of the Union address.
He comes out, first thing he says is "WOW" "can you believe this crowd"....."WOW, Fantastic". It will be interesting.
Need to get rid of the VA Hospitals...sell them to people who can run them...give vets a card to go to any hospital....
I would prefer to completely privatize the VA facilities and give our vets access to private, non-socialized care.
For years, I've wondered why, upon being mustered out, we don't give our vets a piece of plastic, just like a Medicare card.
That would take out an entire Cabinet level Department, of course, and put tens of thousands of highly paid bureaucrats on the street.
Meaning that it's "impossible"...
>>>Meaning that it’s “impossible”...<<<
With Cruz or Trump, it may not be Impossible. Improbable maybe, but not Impossible.
To paraphrase what Pelosi said of Obamacare, you have to Elect them to see what things they will get done.
That’s true for any Politician, but those two are something very different IMHO. One more so than the other. #;^)
You never know.
