support whom you want.
To be clear, I am not sold on Trump. His shtick often annoys me and I am still concerned that he will say something shockingly stupid. As we all know, you can have many chances to earn a vote, but it only takes one time to lose it. He is the riskiest candidate in the GOP field that I can remember for that reason. He also has a history that is sometimes anything but conservative. On a positive note, he does appear to be the candidate most likely to pick up some of the Reagan democrats and that is a big plus for the general election. He is high risk and potentially high reward.
The only other candidates still in the race that have the potential to shake things up are Carson and Cruz. Cruz is my favorite, but I have a hard time seeing his path to the nomination at this point. I like him and think he is the most principled conservative, but he does not seem to have the charismatic flair that a fickle electorate is looking for.
Carson is likable, but I have concerns about his qualifications. He is obviously smart, but his life story is not one of being an executive and/or making executive decisions. He does not appear to have the aggressive personality that can shake things up.
The rest of the field looks like business as usual. I like some things about Rubio, but his immigration stance is a deal breaker for me. I also don’t see him being the aggressive personality we need to shake things up in D.C. He really has not changed anything in the Senate despite sounding like a firebrand.
I am still up in the air. The problems in D.C. run deep and I am not convinced a business as usual candidate who says the right things is going to be very effective so I may well end up supporting Trump.
