In an election season that has confounded party leaders and experts, the rise of Mr. Carson is another unexpected twist. His supporters cite Mr. Carson’s character, not his positions, as the main reason they back him. And they say his low-key approach is precisely what would tame Washington’s bitter partisanship, rather than Mr. Trump’s swagger.

“He is kind when he speaks, and he doesn’t have an agenda to set himself up as wonderful,” said Donna Christiansen, a retiree in Ames.

Now we see the point. This is the trait the liberals want in conservatives. They want to scare away their fight so that Ms Fib will remain the only fighter in the race.

“That smile and his soft voice makes people very comforted,”

For me, personally, I don’t need for a candidate to comfort me emotionally; I want to hear the candidate discuss the issues. A soft-voiced person can still dismantle the nation just like a shrilled-voiced Hillary can.

Yeh if Ben Carson becomes the nominee they will Uncle Tom and Oreo Cookie label and smear him. They loved McLame too until he faced their ZerO god. With that said, Trump, Carson or Cruz any are a universe better than their halloween queen.

If you don’t like his calm demeanor, he’ll stab or bludgeon you!

I don't trust anyone who speaks in soft, soothing tones, especially when current issues demand passion, conviction, outrage, and resolve. It is insulting and condescending, just like Harry Reid did from 2006 to 2014.

I like Mr. Carson, but I am leery whenever the NY Slimes writes a decent article about a Republican because usually there is some hidden agenda behind it.

I'm getting unsolicited Carson e-mails now, and the only other person I still get unsolicited e-mails from is Paul Ryan. The GOP-e is playing these Iowa suckers like a fiddle.

Hmmmmm...now the Slimes is chirping in too?

I smell something fishy...and it ain't Rosie O’doughnuts.

I smell a rat too....but Buckwheat is in Chiraq.

Something is afoot in our beloved land.

A “disturbance in the Force” there is.

:-) Time to check the Teflon deflector shield generators.

First, judge a candidate on character and accomplishments. I’m always aghast at the people who would support that serial liar, Hillary Clinton. How can you trust what she will do? She will sell you out if it gets her a dollar more. Ben Carson is a man of character. I don’t agree with all of his positions, but he is the least fetid of all the candidates.

political polls are nothing but propaganda so those establishment pukes behind the scenes can surreptitiously manipulate the outcome (vote fraud) of an election without being exposed / caught. It’s the common American political way.

The bottom line agenda for the MSM, the left, and the GOPe, is to get Trump.

The polls showing Carson “surging” are the ABC/ New York Times, and quinnipac (sp?)...both with left agendas.

Again, the left is trying to boost the republican they think they can beat, namely Carson.

Over the years, in local, state, and national elections, black candidates are focused on black issues, Carson will be the same.

Personally, I find his “laid back” style creepy. It’s very difficult to ascertain what he really thinks about any given issue, then, his waffling on the issues so far, gives rise to concerns.

He is NOT the man to dig America out of her troubles.

That is not what Trump said. He added not covered in this article that the two polling organizations had ties to group that had it in for him.

LOL! The New York Times. The rabidly-left, lying-outright-all-the-time, Ministry of Propaganda New York Times.

Other Freepers have correctly observed that Carson has not had rallys, but book signings... and that he routinely steps in it in interviews. That aside, let's look at the last few weeks of Carson headlines:

About the only thing that MIGHT help him is the Medicare position, but that would be a wash, because he'd lose as many seniors as he gained people like us.

So there is ZERO that drives these polls. Well, zero, except this: It’s Official: GOP Establishment Hacks Pushing Carson Now As the Anybody But Trump

But hey, TDS'ers.... You go right ahead and believe the Establishment-created polling.

Me, I'm going to stick with the anti-Establishment candidate.

So your habitual lying about Carson failed. How sad for you.

I suspect this has to do more with Mr Trump's 09-11 comments then anything else. He reinforced GOP voters concerns about his “loose cannon” habits. He needs to get back on message.

But take heart. Maybe Trump and Carson will destroy each other so your idol Cruz move into the GOPe attack machines cross hairs. Then you can be totally happy when GOPe stealth candidate Rubio is the only one left standing after the Conservatives finish fragging each other.
