Update on Russian Air Strikes: Mosque destroyed, Rebel leader killed, Rebels vow mass beheadings

The Liwa Suqour al-Jabal, one of the CIA-backed groups, said it had been hit by 20 missiles in its base in Idlib province.

Among the dead from Wednesday’s strikes was said to be a prominent rebel leader in north Homs province, Captain Iyad al-Deek, a former regime officer who defected early in the uprising.

The rebels have promised to take the fight to the Russians, some in blood-curdling comments online.

“Is it not time for the knight to mount his steed? Is it not time to cut off the heads? What are we waiting for? What remains?” said one man, Mohammad al-Maghaweer, who claimed to be a front-line fighter with Jaish al-Fatah.

Another fighter, Mukhlif Hussein al-Tamer, from Idlib, said: “My message to the Russian bear - no matter how much you gather your force in Syria, do not think we are afraid of your failing forces.”

The rebels also claimed there were a number of civilians among the dead. "The mosque was virtually destroyed, and there was a body under the ruins, and there were eight wounded, among them a child,” said Tareq Abdul-Haq, a media activist who visited Jisr al-Shughour after the Russian bombing.

He said a “poor, civilian” neighbourhood had been hit.

“We've seen many bombings by the Syrian air force, but people told me the whole town shook when the Russians struck, and the damage and the rubble left behind by their weapons was very big. It was out of the ordinary. Syrian air force bombs can't do this.”

These factions are what the Russians are hitting

please pick out the ones who are not terrorists

the ones who wouldn’t cut your throat or the throats of their Christian Yazidi Kurd and alawite neighbors

The entire Russian Army was humiliated and demoralized in Afghan over a 14 year period. And we go into Iraq and drive up and down the MSR’s/roads just like the Russians did in Afghan where all their blown up mech vehicles littered the road. We damn sure repeated that same stupid mistake in Iraq and also in Afghan.

Ask the Russians about ROE

Yep. Not such a thing. Plus, there are 2,500 Chechens and Daegestanis in Allepo AO.

Just for shits and giggles, Putin should give a briefing with "Comrade General Ezekiel" on the day's specifically name the Russian/Iranian/Chinese/Assad organization as:

Ground Operations Group (GOG), and the Navy/Marine detachment at Tartus and Latakia as:Marine Assault General Operations Group (MAGOG).

Watch heads explode......either that or the world.

At least people would pick up the Bible and read the Old and New Testaments.......or not.

The Soviets called them “Monkey Models.” These were military items manufactured for export to be inferior to what the Soviet forces were issued. That’s why it was such a surprise when the first Soviet pilot to escape the USSR with his aircraft and the West got a chance to examine his non-monkey model Mig. The craftmanship was lousy, including leaving rivet bolt heads sticking out of the plane’s skin.

Being an anti-Assad rebel doesn’t mean they aren’t terrorists. The more of these guys killed, the better off the world is.

I did not know that. Looked it up and it is true. I am guessing that since the Soviets gave these weapons away for free or for barter goods (raw materials rather than cash) they did not make them as good as the originals to keep down costs and to also to make sure if need be the USSR was still able to keep down their client states militarily.

“Monkey model” redirects here.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Export_variants_of_Soviet_military_equipment

Export variants of Soviet military equipment were versions of Soviet military equipment (armored vehicles, airplanes, missiles) of significantly inferior capability to the original designs and intended only for export. Monkey model was the unofficial designation given by the Soviet Military to such variants. The monkey model was exported with the same or a similar designation as the original Soviet design but in fact it lacked many of the advanced or expensive features of the original.

What about those ISIS training camps? Cluster bombs and MOABs would seem appropriate - wait till they are all out on the parade grounds training. I always loved the idea of a fuel-air bomb too.

WOW!! Do you think they were the only ones who did that? I’ve never heard of such a thing before.

But it’s a good way to make sure you can beat whoever you sell them to in a war, or an uprising.
