Franklin Grahams annual compensation of $880,000, revealed in a Charlotte Observer story, has some worrying that too many top Christian nonprofit leaders as well as pastors are seeing themselves as CEOs instead of as Gods servants...
A spokesman for Franklin Graham said his compensation was determined by independent commissions that compared similar organizations top salaries. Graham was not available to answer questions.....

...you cannot serve God and Mammon...
And?
I do not believe that it is unethical but it may be unwise. One can live a pretty snazzy lifestyle on a lot less.
It is tough for the proletariat to scrape up some cash and voluntarily send it to an organization with a known top-salary level so lofty.
I do have a problem with it. Why? Because it largely comes from people who have far less, and who think they are giving to help the poor and needy.
A 4-star General with 30 years in makes around $180,000. I doubt his responsibilities exceed that of a 4-star general.
$85 million and he's paid $260k
And $425 million pays him $620k
United Way Worldwide (not including individual chapters) has $44 million in donations, its CEO Brian A. Gallagher makes $764k.
According to Charity Navigator, they score it 85.15 overall and 79.01 for financial.
Habitat For Humanity gets $218 million.
Their CEO makes $282k, Their VP Asia office makes $345.
Charity Navigator scores them 77.11 overall and 69.56 financially.
BTT!
I think he is worth at least 4 times as much as me.
And...when you take $880,000 of money donated to help hungry children, you are serving mammon. When you do this while claim to be doing this in the name of God you are committing blasphemy.
I like Franklin Graham, but mammon is mammon. If he wants that kind of money he needs to work in a for-profit company or start his own business, this is a ministry after all.
What is your pay grade?
Work for free?
WHAAAAA....???
You do realize that donations are virtually tax neutral?
Donations are subtracted from taxable income (up to 50% of income) and then what is left over is taxed.
I don’t steal food out of the mouths of hungry children by taking an exorbitant salary skimmed from donations made to a “non-profit”.
If Graham wants to earn $880,000 or $880,000,000 from running a for profit company good for him.
James 3:1 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.
Nelson, Thomas (2009-02-18). Holy Bible, New King James Version (NKJV) (p. 1170). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.
The Reverend Grahams will have a stricter judgement at the judgment seat (Bema Seat) of Christ. So let us mind our own knitting.
awww missed the shout out. I knew Donald was at Billy Graham’s birthday party along with Sarah Palin.
He tried to be sneaky about it. Was just when he walked in. Looked at crowd and said he sort of knew how Grahm felt Think he has filled the stadium at one time
You know NOTHING of Franklin Graham.
And yet you accuse him of being covetous.
And then you post a Bible verse basically accusing him of trying to serve 2 masters.
I believe the Bible also mentions bearing false witness...
It also says : Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander
Or maybe: malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men.
Or: If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless.
Or: Do not speak against one another, brethren He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it.
Or: Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak TRUTH each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.
Or: There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil
Or: The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
Or: The one who guards his mouth preserves his life; The one who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
Or: A truthful witness saves lives, But he who utters lies is treacherous.
Or: A worthless man digs up evil, While his words are like scorching fire.
Or: An evildoer listens to wicked lips; A liar pays attention to a destructive tongue.
Sooo...who are they giving to?
God or Franklin Graham?
Are they giving because they feel led by God?
Or are they giving trying to appease God?
If the latter, than by all means don't give because of Franklin.
But if the former...
Let me get this straight.
A person feels led to give, by God
and yet will refuse to give because they feel the CEO makes too much money.
Mmmmmm...OKAY....
No. He made all his money in cattle futures.
Blasphemy: the act or offense of speaking sacrilegiously about God or sacred things; profane talk.
Mmmmm...NOPE...try again
God will judge Graham, not you or me. But my opinion is that a “reverend” taking nearly a million a year from a religious based, charitable non-profit is unethical, sinful and a rather clear indication of covetessness (which is idolarty).
I pray that Graham will repent of his sin.
