I don't care if he makes twice that amount.

This is another volley in the war on Christianity by the infidels. Aim for the General on the battlefield and then get the officers in one's sights. Destroy them all and sow fear, demoralization and defeat in the ranks.

I seem to remember that Billy Graham capped his salary at $100,000.

That may be, I’m just saying that in both cases their pay was determined by a third party. And $100,000 isn’t what it used to be.

It does seem unnecessary and excessive to me...

I must reluctantly agree with you. An $800,000 salary for a business executive I have no problem with.

But the same amount for an executive of a nonprofit, whose income comes from donations? That doesn't sit right with me. I'm not saying Graham is doing anything immoral or anything like that. I'm just saying it doesn't sit right with me.

And that's one reason that my tithes go to the Salvation Army, and to local food banks.

Oh goody the ‘journalists’ and those preaching a false gospel now want to tell the faithful what is ‘Godly’.

Don’t put words in my mouth. I seem to remember that Billy Graham capped his income at $100,000 because he thought it was enough. Not some third party.

$425 million in charitable donations, 96.17 overall score and 94.59 on financial on Charity Navigator and you have a fit over $880k.

How much is given to SP BECAUSE of Franklin Graham?

How much in donations would SP lose if Graham left?

Would SP accomplish what they accomplish without Graham?

Also, for years, Graham was payed NOTICABLY less than today. Much of what he gets today, was voted on by the board, to not only offset his early years, but to also provide for his retirement years, as he is currently 63.

For the sake of discussion, suppose he tithed 90% and his salary was really only $88,000/yr. AND he lives debt free and makes wise, Godly investments?

I give...but will rethink that...why isn’t $100,000 not enough? May Jesus ask that question one day?

No, I meant that both father and son had their salaries determined by an outside commission. The $100,000 comment was my own. That’s barely middle class in many places now, especially after all your taxes are paid.

And how much of his "excessive" salary does HE give away?

Does he give anything to Samaritan's Purse himself?

Well, I think the article says about $620k comes from SP. The rest comes from Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

“and you have a fit over $880k.”

I rationally expressed my opinion. I am not having a fit. I give to SP and will now reconsider. You may have a very different opinion and I’m fine with that. I find it excessive.

“How much is given to SP BECAUSE of Franklin Graham?”

I don’t think the issue is whether FG adds value. Jesus added value and didn’t have a home.

“How much in donations would SP lose if Graham left?”

I don’t think it is an issue of getting a cut of the donations he brings in to SP.

“Would SP accomplish what they accomplish without Graham?”

So, you are making the argument that ministries should be incentive based? Better performance, big bonuses.

“Also, for years, Graham was payed NOTICABLY less than today. Much of what he gets today, was voted on by the board, to not only offset his early years, but to also provide for his retirement years, as he is currently 63.”

May be true. I find almost a million a year excessive for someone leading a ministry. You may see it differently.

“And how much of his “excessive” salary does HE give away?”

Between him and God. I hope a lot. This doesn’t not make his salary less excessive to me.

“Does he give anything to Samaritan’s Purse himself? “

If he does, it would have accomplished more by not taking it out to pay taxes before putting it back in...

I wonder when the compensation figures for the Clinton Foundation are going to be reported?

Since it’s come up more than once?

The head of Planned Parenthood is pulling in $560,000+ and there are a dozen “officers” in the organization that make over $200,000.

Over 41% of their funding came from your pockets. The rest, well, they sell baby parts for that....

As of 2011 Billy Graham Evangelistic Association salary was still $100,000. Then it went to $149,000. Franklin was getting $1.2 million until 2009 when questions started popping up. Personally its a free country but the son is not the father. Either you are Joel Osteen or you aren’t.

It is not an either or situation. The butchers of PP and a covetous preacher who attempts to serve God and mammon by skimming $880,000 off the top of a “non-profit” can both be wrong.

Matthew 6:24 NKJV
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
