Reuters Poll: Trump Leads Republican Presidential Race with 25 Percent (Jeb 12%)

Billionaire Donald Trump has taken a commanding lead in the race for the 2016 U.S. Republican presidential nomination with the support of 25 percent in a Reuters/Ipsos poll,

giving him a double-digit advantage over nearest rival Jeb Bush.

The poll shows Bush, the former Florida governor, trailing at 12 percent.

It is a huge jump for Trump, who announced his candidacy for the November 2016 election six weeks ago - and this despite the criticism political rivals leveled at him for remarks this month belittling the military service of Senator John McCain, the party's candidate in 2008.

-snip-

Trump, a 69-year-old real estate mogul and reality TV star, seems to be certain to take the stage at next week's Fox News debate, which will use national polls to determine which 10 of the 17 Republican candidates in the field can participate.

In a field this crowded, 25% is Yuge!

“So if Cruz’s voters aren’t apart of Trump’s 24% or so, then who in the world is supporting this liberal Republican clown?”

Emotional patriotic Americans who will come to their senses when they get more Cruz exposure.

I would not call Trump supporter clowns but, that’s just me.

God bless the 1st amendment.

My guess is the conservative candidates would be splitting their majority enough to allow Jeb, son of Bush, brother of Bush to steal the nomination as McCranky did in 2008 and Romney did in 2012, were Trump not running. He is great. My only concern would be his ability to get the RINO establishment to work with him if he were elected. BUT, knowing Trump, he will bully those eunuchs into obedience. They are incapable of dealing with a REAL man with backbone and a set of testicles.

“Rubio at 3.9%.”

As I see it, knocking out Rubio is a SERIOUS ACCOMPLISHMENT. Even Rush was initially mushy with him...he got real turned on about his “make America great” BS in his kick-off speech (and seemed to completely forget about the 2013 Amnesty that very nearly passed).

Rubio looks to be finished. Next is Jeb, who’s now getting SKUNKED by Trump in Florida (not to mention the other states). And, then, finally Walker, who almost seems to be following in Rubio’s footsteps (Open Borders at the state level, Secure-the-Border when RUNNING for federal office, and the back to Open Borders when in power).

With those three gone, Cruz will come way up in the polls, and the rest will not be an issue.

He could borrow DT’s line: “McConnell, you’re fired!”

How much of that support should be going to actual conservatives like Cruz and Walker who, you know, are actual conservatives?

None of it, because a large number of voters are not looking for the most conservative candidate, but the candidate who will most effectively address decades of illegal immigration and little or no law enforcement, legal immigration that is too high, and the negative economic effects of years of one-sided trade deals.

If some of you don't stop trying to fit the issues of this Republican primary into the old liberal/conservative categories, you'll never understand what is happening with Trump.

How much of the support of other candidates will eventually go to Trump once more voters understand the issues?

Yes. Faulty premise = faulty conclusion. Logic 101.

Me too. Watchword happens in the House. After his exceptionally miserable performance as a Speaker, if the GOP can’t dump Boehner, it’s over for them. I have had it with Democrat Lite.

A little more info:

Secretary of Commerce????

Walker replaced the State Dpt. of Commerce with his own agency.

Walker created and Chaired the WEDC until he was removed from the position by the legislature. The WEDC has outsourced more jobs overseas than they’ve created. WEDC has doled out millions of dollars to Walker’s donors who were not eligible to receive the funds. No reviews were done of the companies receiving funds, many of which then went out of business.

WEDC is now under investigation by the Dane County D.A. and the GOP won’t even try to defend it.

Walker came up over 100,000 jobs short of his campaign promise of 250,000 jobs.

Trump would never appoint him as Secretary of Anything. Trump demands excellence in performance. I’ve read enough of his books to know that.

Department of War, (change the name back.) - LTC. West

Excellent suggestion both on renaming and potential cabinet choice.

Have you been living under a rock? Ted Cruz has been EVERYWHERE making the same arguments Trump has, except Cruz does it in a far more articulate and PRESIDENTIAL manner.

I don't think a lot of people want an articulate Presidential manner...I think they want a bulldog who going to go in there, take charge and tear some things up...Call a spade a spade...

Remember Op Chaos in 2008?

With Hillary pretty much unopposed on the D side, look for the Dems to do a reverse one.

Jeb Bush is the obvious guy for them to support in the primaries.

I completely agree Cruz is making the same points as Trump, but much more articulately.

However Trump is getting more air time, and seems to be connecting better as shown by poll numbers.
