Oh, absolutely.

It's quite funny though how some posters are drawn, like a moth to a flame or a pretty girl to a biker, to some of the threads on the Waco situation. Their protestations of cultural distaste and the saving, righteous force of lawmen is wrapped up in something much deeper than just situational angst.

Spittle's always a good flag for that.

Speaking of old threads, I have a realllly hard time when I see some of the early on antibiker posters on other posts just going along like they were never involved. I have a very good memory. Not much on cut and paste and etc, but that is still in good shape, as I result they are still part of that crowd, so anything they say now is wasted to me.

Pretty girls are (generally) drawn to status, power, and money. Nothing new or sexist in that, it's just how the species has always been. Uniforms are also attractive and any "look" that is distinct, and alpha in cultural meme, tends to draw more. Firemen get hotter chicks than bowling leagues on Friday nights out. LARP folks in costume are lower on the mating attractiveness spectrum than rugby players.

But your mileage may very. Attraction, appreciation, excitement and thrill are all different things and have different physiological responses at different ages and with different experiences.

Something can be beautiful without being attractive. Angelina Jolie is an example. My $.02 is that she's extraordinarily beautiful, mildly attractive, and rather frightening to contemplate as a mating commitment.

No. I am saying that even bland and unremarkable stupidity may prove fatal, while severe and willful idiocy may not. My comment was related to the divide between the continuum of stupidity, and that of consequence.

I agree, someone might be beautiful and still not attractive / desirable.

I also submit that, despite the “attraction” of a girl or woman to an “outlaw” or “misunderstood bad guy” whom she believes ONLY SHE can save FROM HIMSELF! . . . that the mature woman understands that to be as it actually is: a “fatal attraction.” The mature “pretty girl” avoids such men like the plague. It is a fantasy of those who want to prey on insecure, young pretty girls. Only the insecure girls go for the “bad guy” — looking for love in all the wrong places.

Girls and young women with wonderful fathers, cannot subject themselves to such depredation. The “pretty girls” who do, are insecure, unsure of love, and taken advantage of. Shame on the men who take advantage of them. IMHO! MEN, real men, bikers or not bikers, do not take advantage of girls or women, pretty or otherwise. My father taught me that! ; )

Well, you bring two interesting points up in that (thread drift, anyone?) but your points are noted. Codependency and its enmeshment are not the same as predation and insecurity, but they absolutely do feed off each other. It's a very bad lifestyle if those are your iconic archetypes.

But for a Friday night - or even an extended weekend - sometimes the surface is what people are looking for. However, what I take to be as the root of the attractiveness of the biker mystique has to do with a couple of things: one, it's definitely a loner type of experience (being on the motorcycle is an individualist pursuit) and that brings mystery... and the rugged nature of it is unquestionably masculine, which draws attention.

As I said, character shows. I agree with your comments. You are talking about mental and emotional health, which can be a challenge for some more than others. But remember, too, that when a dog pisses on a fire hydrant he's not committing vandalism - he's just being a dog.

Been up all day, bud. But pasting a website isn't the same thing as saying "I have attended a meeting in private where club business was discussed and I am in material possession of documents from that meeting which prove violation of the organization's stated purpose."

I think you're throwing trash, and doing so disingenuously.

Certainly, what is known as the dominant club in an area will not unusually have a more respected voice at the table. It's common, but not an imperative, practice for the head of any COC organization to be from that dominant club. What you are making out to be a sinister meme is nothing more than the reality of the other, less well known Golden Rule: he who has the gold, makes the rules. Of course the dominant club has greater influence. That is why it is the domninant club. Or, conversely, it has greater influence because it is the dominant club.

Parsing and twisting can be fun in fencing and linguistics, but it's occasionally a little exasperating. Exasperation being your perceived goal (my perception), I conclude you're trolling for flames. But that's okay.

Respectfully, I disagree with your premise, above, of the “unquestionably masculine, which draws attention.” The “truly masculine” (in the mind of a healthy girl or woman) is the mutual provider, the defender of women and children. The “truly masculine” seeks not to subdue his female partner, but to appreciate her and advance HER powers to the mutual benefit of both him and the family. The true male knows that he succeeds only with a female partner, mate, wife, who is his equal OR BETTER! The secure, wise, truly masculine man, can accept and appreciate and indeed SEEK a woman who is his superior in . . . intelligence? commitment? .. . if not physical strength.

This I know, for I have a father and husband in that character. I have great empathy for women who believe they have to settle for less.
